A little different review and as of special request Newbie Review, Just Back From Ttr (with Boobs Cruise) reply #10, thanks @Steve lol. The parts on TTR will be shorter, as it is all in the original review. -Round one, hotel! The breathless (Riviera Cancun) opened in May 2016, opening of the renovated Temptation was in November 2017. Whilst TTR has an extra year and I totally get the modern look they went for when they redesigned TTR and the tower, and it actually does look pretty good from a far…But when looking more closely it’s a totally different story imo. I personally would have went with more durable materials, especially in the rooms, that can better withstand the constant flow of guests going in and out (even during ones stay LOL). For us the hotel turned a bit "kitschy" after a few days and you can really notice the wear and tear of the past two years. Now the Breathless that is roughly 3x the size of TTR…After reading above, even I still feel what I’m about to say: when you arrive at Breathless, you really have a “aaaaaah” feeling and you feel at home immediately. They designed everything openly and used soothing colors, you run into this relaxing theme all the way from the reception to your room. The hotel has been open for 3 years and still looks brand new. Rooms are huge and all the buildings are placed in a way that 90% of the rooms have some sort of an ocean view. The hotel has 5 buildings and a center reception building. Buildings one and two are Xhale club rooms that are the equivalent of tower rooms at TTR with all its extras and more, like all the Xhale rooms have a swim up if you are on the ground floor, or have a hot tub on the balcony. All the rooms lights and room temperatures are controllable with an in room tablet. Those lights are even color changeable, (something we really missed at TTR, those fck white lights they placed in the bed are such a bad idea unless you planned to play doctor ). Minibar is also included and holds a minibar bottle of Bacardi and Johnny Walker red that they replace every day, and snacks like crisps and nuts. Point Breathless. -Round two, the pools! The sexy pool at TTR looks gorgeous, love the integrated whirlpools, the swim up bar, the loungers are pretty decent. Quite pool also nothing to report, it has all that is should have. Breathless has one extra pool, its one silent pool only for Xhale guests, one active pool (the biggest one) where they do pool games and one party pool where all the pool party’s go through. All the pools have cabanas (first come first serve) or loungers that have been built into the pools themselves, all looks pretty fancy and you feel posh just lying there . Once you install yourself somewhere, a pool attendant will come up to you and ask for your room number, with the clear message, if your chairs are unattended for over 30min they will take your stuff away, we have seen them execute this only once, unattended towels with no personal belongings are taken away instantly. Breathless and TTR are pretty neck-to-neck on the pool party’s subject, just at TTR they go that extra step further and the party does not stop until most guests disappear, whilst at Breathless they really follow the schedule minute to minute. Point TTR. -Round three, food! Well if you read my TTR review, we really did not like the food at TTR (with exception of the Italian place), and others trip reports do state the same issues with food, so it’s not just us . Breathless has roughly the same types of restaurants, Mexican, Italian, French, Steak, Mediterranean and a buffet, overall the food on all subjects are waaaaay above TTR quality. The Mexican place is still an actual Mexican restaurant and they really put an effort into presentation and keeping everting warm. They also do a beach BBQ and beach buffet at night and at noon. Point Breathless. -Round four, people! Well yeah this is a tough one …You can’t compare the vanilla to TTR, so I’m going just by characters of the people we met on both places. It’s definitely easier to do small talk, mingle and or make friends at TTR. As at Breathless there generally are more groups of people present or couples that are there for romance (<-amongst themselves). Also some people at Breathless really believe that are at some high end posh hotel in Ibiza or South Beach and act very entitled, asocial behavior like that and overall just disgusts me. We had none of that at TTR and everyone we ran into was so friendly and open. Point TTR -Round five, night time activities! We all know the themes at TTR are as they should be for the overall theme the hotel has going on, no complaints what so ever. Now Breathless also has theme nights, but the participation is near ZERO, they are smart and for some themes like glow night, they handout things that glow during the entire day or when you enter the party, so they do their best but it’s just not sufficient enough. Breathless places DJ’s at bars for 5pm and they go on to 11pm gradually turning up the volume, at 11pm they have their version of playmakers round up people to go into the nightclub. The nightclub is a rather small venue, where the music is set pretty loud (is this a Mexican thing!? I mean we are clubbers, we go to Tomorrowland, so we really have a good idea what doable loud is supposed to be…But at Bash and at the Breathless nightclub, it’s like loud +10 with a un-equalized speaker setup, it’s just “ouch” imo). The true hilarious thing is after doing Bash for a week and then coming to Breathless and see some people (thinking) they are doing some sexy dancing…It cracked us up every night . Point TTR (last but not least as they deserve it) -Round six, playmakers! This one is the other way around, Breathless playmakers…Well “who!?” It’s like a real Ronnie Pickering moment, if you don’t know who Ronnie Pickering is, look it up on YouTube you wont regret it LOL, they have playmakers but you hardly ever see them, only during pool parties and when you look for them for a game they organized, they dont come to you, you go to them. Now the TTR playmakers, talk about an animation team that really puts in an effort day and night. The games they come up with are just awesome and really gets people going. If you want to be known over the hotel, just participate in the pool games and you are good . Plus they have to keep going even at night, so kudos to them for keeping up that pace with all us drunk vacationing people . Point TTR. So in conclusion, its 4-2 in favor of TTR… But you really can’t 100% compare these two hotels, the Breathless has its venue and food REALLY working for them, whilst TTR has the people and party…If all the people and party from TTR would be at the Breathless resort, now that would be the most awesome vacation ever! Thanks for reading, live today, love tomorrow, unite forever.
Very good review - thank you! We did Breathless in Punta Cana while Temptation was closed for renovation. The resort was beautiful and we did have fun...but it’d never be an option over Temptation for us. Although we met some very nice people there...the atmosphere is definitely geared more toward couples keeping to themselves. In the pool, people were so spread out that we felt like we had our own private pool. That’s great for a romantic week, but not the atmosphere we look for on vacation. When we went, the resort advertised topless optional heavily, but any of the two or three women who took their top off in a chair were stared at, pointed at, made fun of and singled out as an exhibitionist. Whenever I see someone ask what other adult resorts compare to Temptation, I tell them there just isn’t one. It’s the people, not the facilities that make Temptation special.
Very awesome review. We have been going to Mexico for a fun week of adult only vacation every year since 2011. Sometimes we split TTR with another resort sometimes we dont, we agree there is NO comparison to finding another resort exactly like TTR, however we still like variety. This year we are trying Breathless Cancun for 2 days before TTR for variety and in hopes that in the future we can get more TTR types to hit Breathless Cancun or Cabo for a week.. Kind of like a takeover event without all the drama.. LOL.. so if anyone has ideas of how to organize a CCC kind of takeover at a breathless resort lets join in.. Breathless Cabo does to LS takeover events BTW.. interesting , Right?
Best way to compare is do a side by side comparison thru a site like orbitz, everyone thought BL was way overpriced compared to TTR.. compare apples to apples.. they are close. AND everyone that has been to BL raves about the resort being better than TTR. We will see in April.
My understanding is that Breathless is like double the price (unless you are booking a master or penthouse at TTR)
Anybody with connections or ideas in the industry is needed to try to set up a takeover TTR style at Breathless... yeah yeah we hear ya, "whats the point"?? Well, Who has a partner or spouse that demands some variety and does not want to give up the party vibe?? LOL. Sorry not trying to hi-jack the thread.
We did the Breathless in Punta Cana as well, its roughly double the size of the one in Cancun and out of the two, the one in Cancun is actually a lot better. Did you know that the Breathless in Punta Cana is listed as hotel that is LS friendly? Read that in an travel article somewhere don’t recall where…Not that we noticed this when we were there. Btw, in Cancun there were always some girls (including mine) that were topless and cant say they were made fun off…People looked but we don’t care, AND we had our “lets play” swag bag with us at the pools at all time LOL And indeed its really the people that make TTR special
