Anybody following the Mid-October Wedgies on Facebook? They have lots of reports of people from their group getting food poisoning this last week. Some restaurants have been shut down for cleaning, and there is an inspection going on at Sea Flirt. Some are saying it has something to do with the juice. One person was sick enough to go to the hospital. Wonder how fast they can get the place cleaned up?
I’m not one for conspiracy theories, and realize people can get sick anywhere, but there is just such a large number of them from the group saying it.
Where are they saying this? Have not seen anything...never been sick unless it's been my own fault drinking...
They have a Facebook page. First trip to Cancun I was fairly sick when getting home. I drank water at the table for most meals. Four trips since, I have only had bottled water, and never a problem.
Hmmm interesting. I have not seen anything in facebook but if it's a private group then maybe that is why. I was there late sept, never had any issues. I guess it always can happen
Food poisoning can happen anywhere at all where food is being prepared and someone forgets a cleaning step, or certain kinds of food aren't kept refrigerated properly and so forth. Happens to restaurants here in Houston all the time. It's usually easily halted, once management gets reports of it taking place and they swing into gear with remedial steps.
Also don’t forget it’s not always in the restaurant. You have to consider the entire food supply chain. They could’ve done everything right in terms of prep and handling to cooking and storing. There is a huge beef recall going on, could not be related, it’s only an example. It’s good to see remediation is being done quickly.
It is absolutely true. My husband and I were both there last week and almost everyone we talked to were sick to some degree. We are both also still sick after being home several days, as are many others. This was our 7th time to Mexico and 4th to TTR, first time sick for us to. It happens. Food honestly wasn't great this time. The Italian restaurant was the worse. Like couldn't eat my meal bad. And I know that is the one everyone raves about. Italian used to be my favorite. We were unimpressed with many things this trip and may not be back. This was our first trip back since the reno.
