Is the reason you stay at Sunset Key because of the beaches? Also, how often does the ferry go back and forth to KW?
It is a very nice place and they have 1, 2 and 3 bedroom cottages so for a group it is nice. But you do pay for the luxury of it. Ferries are every 30 mins and it is a 6 minute ride. It has been several years but will update if anything has changed after our visit in 3 weeks
We were wondering about that... since Stacia really likes her topless tan time, but it seems that all the C/O hotels have repealed that policy in recent years. Dammit.
We like to stay at the Duval House (yup, it's on Duval Street). Not adults only, but we've never seen any kids there. A little pricey during Fantasy Fest, but it's location makes it worth it.
We stayed at Southernmost Resort on Duval last year during Fantasy Fest, and it was one of the most fun weeks of our lives! We rented bikes for the week, and it was a great way to get around. And I don't know what the official policy is on being topless, but my top was never on during any day at the beach, and no one seemed to care at all. Actually, my top wasn't on for most of the week in general! Maybe during Fantasy Fest the rules are more relaxed?
I believe the rules during FF are much more relaxed as that is the vibe everyone expects which draws the visitors. Hotel rates double and are booked way in advance. I'm pretty sure the tanning pier at Southernmost is top optional all the time. Simonton Court is not top or clothing optional but during FF everyone is naked. I think maybe a group takes the place over. We stayed at Pilot House before it was taken over by Marquessa (sp?) when it was C/O which is sadly no longer the rule. You can get by with a lot in Key West just about anytime as long as you go adults only, for instance, naked sex on the sundeck at the Cyprus House in broad daylight. However, it wasn't exactly sanctioned. I LOVE Key West!
Hi, If we can only make part of the week, what is the best time? First or Second half of the FF? It looks like most of the parties start during the 2nd half.... First timers to FF, so appreciate any pointers or insight!
It gets busier everyday. So you can think of it as the closer you are to Saturday. The busier it is. Btw. Friday is my favorite day. Saturday is almost unbearable. Its that packed.
Appreciate the information. We are planning for 10/24 - 10/28. Anyone stayed at the Conch House or Southernmost Beach Resort? If anyone is going to be there those days, PM us. Maybe we can meet up for a couple of tequila shots.
