Ya, good luck with that. Violence or physical confrontations can get you kicked out of TTR, or worse yet arrested by the local Tourist Police (Policia Turistica ... yep, they're for real and if you become involved with them, be sure to have lots of cash handy to extricate yourself, lol.) Suggesting a little less testosterone. Accept that globally in 2019 folks carry smart phones with cameras wherever they go. Assume that the vast majority of folks are mature, self-aware adults and are typically careful who they have in the background when they're digitally capturing their own memories. Relax and focus on your beloved companion. You're on vacation dude, in adult paradise, and TTR's motto is Nobody Knows You, and Nobody Gives a Sh*t.
Agree. We are always careful about pics, but Im not gonna go to the ends of the earth to make sure someones "other" isnt near the picture taking. I always laugh at these tough guy " Let me catch you taking pics!!" types. Chill out wannabe Rambo. Ill also say that we are at TTR to lay back and have a great time, but if someone takes my phone, they'll have one opportunity to give it back, after that, we'll both be kicked out, one of us injured, and I wont be.
When I was there last noticed a photo station inside at bash. I thought it was a great idea and a lot of people were using it. I think they are trying to find a way to deal with it and find a balance. Its defiantly going to be to a tough nut to crack as you are defiantly right everyone has a phone with them and wants some memories. My feeling is once something like this gets out of hand it almost imposable to real back in. They have to have a hard stance on it and then turn their head as longs as in fact people are being respectful. Sort of like covered uncovered. TTR also has a culture developed by repeat visits and this form. This can also be a big influencing factor in keep it under control. If the culture of the groups and regulars don't accept unacceptable pict/video it should help to control it. I do believe most people are respectful but its the old thing it only takes one asshole and once its out there you cant get it back. If the photo/ social media thing gets out of hands it going to go from Nobody Knows You, and Nobody Gives a Shit . To Nobody Knows You, and Nobody Gives a Shit, unless you end up on social media then everyone know you and your in deep shit. Now its time to get in the recliner with a cocktail and popcorn
I can barely figure out who is the same people from daytime to nighttime (especially girls that went from topless to clothed, and sunglasses and hats, to make-up and fixed hair) No lie I got to the pool later one day after sleeping in, and my wife was across the premier bar and I didn't even know it was her for like 15 minutes. I was like has anyone seen Elyse, and people were like "she's right F-ing over there, hahaha".
I realize this is kind of off topic, but I admit the first thing I thought of when I read the title, "cell phones at Bash" was... it's so frigging loud in there, how could you possibly take a phone call? It's probably the third most used feature of the device at best, but phones are made for calls.
It's funny the diversity of the folks here.... you have everything from those threatening to kill someone if they think they are taking a picture of their wife to those that seem to be pimping out their wives in photo uploads to this site. I've been going to this resort for 20 years now and have seen the pendulum swing from one side to the other and back. Used to be that we all took pictures everywhere and mailed them to one person that created a CD of all the pictures and mailed them back out to everyone. Now people are scared of showing up on the web someplace. Could be that we used to party like we were at a college frat party (and no every college frat party doesn't lead to people being raped.. maybe we went to a little better quality of school ) but now it's seems to be pushing to be a swingers party. idk... kind of miss the old days when we could just party and not have to worry about offending someone, or taking the wrong picture and losing a phone or an eye. Was a lot more fun then... not to say it isn't fun now... just different.... but until things really change I'll keep coming back. Jamie
If my phone had no call features, it wouldn't matter to me. I don't take calls on it, and barely make any on it. Literally the only people I talk to on it are my parents. If there was an alternative device, I'd use it. Maybe I can just break out my old pager.
I know this was partly directed at me, hahahhaa. For the record I went to Drexel University Frat parties that think they are piratically Ivy League are even worse.
Probably not a good idea.... I mean, I understand the spirit... Acting on it might mean a visit with Cancun police. Security can, and has, escalated to PD involvement pretty quick in the past.
