I don't blame Mexican hospitals asking for money upfront,, if the situation were reversed,, A mexican shows up at a US or CDN hospital , but claims he has insurance in his country,,, there is no easy way to verify that or chase foriegn companys for not paying.

If you have proper insurance you be re-inbursed from your provider.

sorry for bringing up this old thread but need help with my travel sinruance.
so I looked for best rates at https://www.aardvarkcompare.com and found two decent providers Allianz and Seven Corners but still after checking all the info and reviews cannot decide on which one to get.
if anyone had experience with either, please let me know whether payouts went smoothly in case of a medical emergency
    thanks

Just remember to get Primary coverage, this keeps your normal health care out of the picture.

    Tim,
Which company did you use? I purchased what I think is good coverage thru United Airlines-Travel Guard/AIG.
    Thanks,
    Laurie

I used Squaremouth and bought a policy with a company called Travel Insured International based out of Glastonbury Connecticut. I had a small claim and after they got the correct paperwork they made good on it. I never buy coverage for the full trip cost, you can get most of that back or use it for future trips, I buy manly for the health and evacuation coverage. I think I paid $87 for the both of us.

Buy it, wife broke her foot in Mexico, thankful it wasn't bad and we waited till we got back to take care of it. X-ray in the states showed 2cm away from having surgery. It's cheap!

If you choose secondary coverage, and your primary doesn't cover international medical care, is it a hassle to deal with the insurance company?
