FYI. Got this reply from Temptation this morning regarding an email I sent asking why our reservation had been cancelled. ???
That's funny because they actually do have reservations with Cancelon (ours being one of them)...Maritza even confirmed ours via email lol!
Yep, I got a confirmation email from Maritza a couple of weeks ago also. Not sure what changed in that 2 week period that caused them to cancel.
I feel like I'm playing roulette lol...just called reservations (again) and confirmed they still have us in the system...we got such a great rate ($170/night) that I'm just waiting for it to be canceled lol.
Is it possible they have it in their system because someone other than cancelon is making the booking w TTR? Cancelon has 4th parties they buy rooms from at a discount maybe. But that 4th party has no obligation to honor that and only will in times when they can’t sell the room to someone else at a higher price? So those losing rooms means there were buyers directly on the third party site willing to take the room. Those keeping them means the forth party sold for a discount to the third party cancelon who sold to you. Regardless what this tells me is stay away from cancelon
It looks like you're right - I emailed Maritza at TTR back and asked about making sure our reservation shows as paid. They indicated that the reservation was actually made from HotelBeds Travel Agency (and not Cancelon). Maritza also indicated that HotelBeds does have a contract with TTR. From what I've read, HotelBeds is a very large partner/supplier of hotel inventory for many travel agencies - looks like Cancelon was just buying inventory from HotelBeds but oversold themselves.
betcha that Cancelon has it in their T&C that the original resort can, in an interestingly-worded manner, can cancel any Cancel reservation "if they (meaning TTR) gets a better deal." If someone has the actual paperwork on it, I could parse through it if anyone is willing to pay my hourly... or buy me a beer. Not at TTR, their beer isn't that good.
hmm... I just booked November through cancelon. So it's the hotel themselves that cancels, not cancelon?
