I have a question for you well traveled folks. If fly out of DC to Atlanta, then to Cancun, can I purchase booze at Duty Free in Atlanta?
If you're going to do that, it's better to buy it in the CUN airport. There's a liquor store right after immigration and just before baggage. They used to have a great selection, but now they have less liquor and more tobacco. They still have the basics though. Sam
Hoping someone can help me with this. If I purchase alcohol here in Toronto and bring it to Cancun, is there a limit? I know going from Cancun to Toronto your only allowed basically 2 bottles each. I haven't done it the other way though. Thanks in advance.
I have bought it at the duty free a in Atlanta . it's a big store with good deals never had a problem the bring it rite to the gate for you.
Each passenger(over the age of 18yrs) is allowed to bring in to Mexico up to 3 liters of alcoholic beverages. About the only thing you can't purchase locally much cheaper than even in your airport duty free, is Canadian Ice Wine - lol IMHO save you baggage weight allowance for other stuff
No problem up to 3L liquor+ 6L of wine/pers, but if not opened in Mexico, don't bring them back in carry-on as CBSA or US customs don't allow Mexican Ty-rap sealed official security bags through. We got our Mxc bottles pulled on transfer in US but not the ones bought in Canada....ty-raps don't work! Make sure they are official sealed bags.
We brought one or two bottles of fireball from duty free in Chicago to Cancun. It quite easy. They hand it to you at the gate, and you keep it with you.
