We were doing exactly that a couple weeks ago when there. A couple times in the morning they didnt have any 20s so I had to come back later in the day. Never had an issue when asking later at night (around 10pm)

The easiest thing to do for Pesos is to ask your server for change for large bills. We usually do this at lunch in the buffet, since they always have a wad of small bills!

Both are fine, but it's usually a better rate to go straight from CAD to MXN, and I think the consensus is that pesos are better for the servers so they can just take their tips home, while they might lose some in converting USD back to MXN.

Hotel has an atm. We always just use dollars and don’t mess with pesos never been a need to use pesos there. If you have pesos and leave your stuck with it or have to pay to convert

I'm afraid I'm going to get impaired and not tip someone enough or pay for a new car for one of the bartenders. I stick with USD because I can do that with when I'm seeing double . I tip well enough to cover the conversion, although I think I will get some pesos to use in the sober moment so they don't have to pay the man.
I guess at TTR you don't need to worry about beer goggles it conversion goggles that are the problem.
