I think that, as the reno moves more than months in the past, but years, we're going to see a LOT of the things they did during the reno that end up being bad ideas. We've already got a pretty good list going of things they did, or tried if you prefer that word, that have been reversed, changed, removed, added-to, replaced or whatever.
While cool a lot of the Reno stuff in our mind was already outdated. They also sacrificed a lot of space and common sense around the hotel in lieu some wild crazy looks. Small example is those grey egg like chairs at the buffet actually suck really bad.
In the tower, a lot of the wallpaper has started to mold. Also if anything spills or splatters on it, it stains. I’m curious to see what ideas they come up with to keep the current decorative theme.
I too expect a lot of nagging maintenance problems from either rushed work during the renovation, or just poor design. However, the one thing they have going for them is the cheap cost of labor to constantly fix whatever problems come up. It would never work in most places, but it does in Mexico.
Then there’s a ramp from the pool to bash that could handle 1000 people on it at a time but yet you have to walk a quarter mile from bash through the lobby for bathrooms.
We had the same thing in our tower room, smelled real musty when walking in the room, not the normal Mexico smell like the airport has. When they were remodeling the place someone mentioned the wall paper has arrived, my comment to that was wallpaper in Mexico, that's not going to work out real well. T
