I would say go with Pesos for a few reasons.. you only have to exchange once and it's easier for the Mexican people, they have to convert US cash

Completely agree with what @Deb42dd said above. We are in the same situation in canada in terms of choosing what to convert too. W learned quickly the benefits of pesos for us and the workers. Plus, the peso bills are waterproof so u can carry them with u in the pool and they are easy to handle as they dry/separate easily when u go to use them. We find 20 peso Bill's perfect for tipping (about $1 us).....not that bartenders would every complain about soggy american money in their tip jar.

Only thing we are getting american for this next trip is for USA Transfers

We bring both and use whichever is required for what we are paying.

We take pesos (from England) if we can, but struggled to get small denomination notes this time, so took US $, still gratefully received!

I’m under the impression that USA Transfers will take Canadian cash or pesos if you set it up with them ahead of time.

My two cents.... the peso can move 10% up or down or more to the dollar in a week (even a day)!..... dollars seem to be preferred but all/any gratuity is more appreciated than most of us will ever know!!

    Bring a mix.

USD for tours (incl Boobs Cruise), nightclub entrances etc. Pesos for everything else. If you're not doing any tours, Pesos only.

Simple rule of thumb is if it's priced in Pesos pay in Pesos. If it's priced in USD pay in USD. Otherwise you'll get ripped on the exchange rate.

The only things priced in Dollars are Tours and Nightclub entrances.

If you tip in Dollars the staff will have to exchange them and they'll lose out too.
