Are there any experienced burners in the ttr community?

We are researching our first trip to Burn the Man. Looking for help/ advice.

Guessing periodic sunburns don't count, huh? ... not even on the more 'tender' spots?

 

What does burners mean? Pot smokers?? Looking for the resort hookup?? Can’t help ya there...wine only for me!

 

Haha didn't realize the connection of "Burners" to sunburns or smoking pot. No I am asking about people that attend the Burning Man Festival in Black Rock City Nevada every year.

 

This will be our 6th regional, never been to burning man, but we are well educated and support some huge camps like Sextant, Unicorns, Kanuckistan, Elesyum, etc etc.

I will try to give a Burning Man summary as best I understand it. "Burners" refers to the Burning Man festival out in the Nevada desert, where each year a huge crowd of enthusiasts create a city with approximately 80,000 participants. According to one of my friends who attends every year, it's a bit of a utopian society with few rules, where you rely on the goodwill of your fellow guests, and the forbearance of reptiles. Guests construct or at least arrange their own habitat for the duration of the stay, often in a Dr. Seuss style, and the more elaborate the better. There are entire neighborhoods based on themes, and with no rules you can imagine pretty much anything goes. There is a tent or area for pretty much every Desire you can't live out on Main Street in your town back home. A huge fire of a prearranged structure is one of the event highlights, and then supposedly everybody heads home and leaves no trace. It would probably be entertaining to visit, but I've seen enough desert for quite a while. Fantasy Fest in Key West might be considered a rough approximation of some of the Burning Man concepts, with plenty of exposed skin and a lot less fire. Unfortunately, also 20,000 camera toting tourists.

 

Sounds sweaty with no pool. No thanks.
