What is the daily evening schedule like at TTR? I’ve read here that pools/hot tub closes at 7pm...what time is the evening show? When does Bash open for the night? Will need to know when is a good time to make dinner reservations. Also, is the general consensus that Flame and the Mexican restaurant aren’t good? And Sea Flirt is only good for breakfast? We are foodies and don’t want the restaurants! Finally, what are Mexican laws regarding topless on the beach? Can I walk the beach (past TTR’s property) indefinitely and be topless and sheer micro thong?? (It’s all I’m planning on packing! ) Thanks!
I wouldn't get reservations too early in the evening. We usually didn't get out of the pool or hot tub until about 6. Give the ladies an hour and a half to get ready. Flame was a little blah, didn't do the Mexican because we heard what you heard and eat it here a lot. We thought the best was the hibachi restaurant. We didn't do she because we are bad planners and takes advanced reservations. Shows started around 930-10. I wouldn't plan your night around them. You can be topless on TTR beach, but there are families past that.
Yes the pool/hot tub close at 7pm. Bash technically opens at 6pm but people don't usually start going until after 8pm. Our usual: 5-6pm leave pool, back to room for nap or to the spa for relax. 7pm get pretty and go for dinner (usually try for 7:30-8 reservations) maybe drink at Bash. 9pm back in room, change for theme night. 10pm evening show starts, usually watch from balcony then go down to party after. 3am burger and fries! Agreed we don't like Flame or Mexican for dinner (Mexican great for lunch!). We love SeaFlirt for both breakfast and dinner (if you like seafood), and it's tied for our favorite restaurant with the Italian. If you're really a foodie, you should want to try it all though. We don't really care for the Asian/Hibachi but others love it. She is an interesting experience and worth doing, though be prepared you might not like it (in which case, go eat in the buffet after!) You won't want to walk topless off the resort, the neighbouring resorts are all family friendly and there will be kids. Thong bikini is OK since you are covered, but you will get looks!
Is it LEGAL to be topless was my question...I don’t want to end up in a Mexican pokey!! We usually vacation in Punta Cana and it is legal to be on the beach that way...with lots of kids. Doesn’t bother me a bit...europeans are often topless and often a part of their culture!
I’ve always been told that technically it is illegal to be topless on the public beaches. Although the police have always looked past it. We’ve always done topless at various resorts in playa and Cancun with others without any issues. And at TTR we have walked down the beach topless without any issues as well.
Yep, agreed. Our understanding is the same. The thing is at the places down the beach away from TTR it isn't a common thing. So can you do it without issues, sure. But expect to be one of the only ones topless with lots of stares so I expect it depends on your comfort level.
Bash opens at 6 or so, however the show does not start til around 10. The lobby bar is right next to Bash and it is open at like noon. Personally, I think Sea Flirt and Romanza (Italian) are both good dinner choices. You only need reservations at She and the habachi table at Sutra. Be sure to pack some long pants and shoes for the restaurants. I have never seen anyone have an issue on the beach, other than skinny dipping at night.
The shows at Bash start at 10pm. Only the Hibachi section of Sutra and "She" require reservations. I would highly recommend Seaflirt for breakfast at least once during your stay. It has a full menu/table service as well as a patio with seating overlooking the ocean. I love the menu for breakfast and for me it is a really nice change from the buffet. The buffet for breakfast is good to - just be aware that there are two sides to the buffet and some items are only served on one side so be sure to check out both sides. For lunch I would highly recommend the roof top bar - if you are staying in a tower room or you are a member/referral staying anywhere in the resort access is free. The view is beautiful and the food is outstanding (hands down the best lunch/late afternoon snack food at the resort and even beats some of the dinner restaurants in my opinion). If you are not in the tower and/or a member/referral there is a $20 per day per person charge. If that is the case and in spite of the how great the view and food are, I am not sure it is worth $40 for a couple - perhaps try it once and see for yourself. The Mexican restaurant is pretty good for lunch - including a salad bar with hot entrees too. The menu is not all Mexican - they have burgers and more too. Dinner wise, reviews tend to be all over the place. My own opinion is that Sutra's menu service, Romanza, Seaflirt and She are all excellent. The Sutra Hibachi is ok and it is fun to see the "show" but I don't think it is any better than a good Hibachi restaurant in the states. I personally don't think Flame is all that good (better on my second visit then on my first) and for dinner the buffet is ok but a big step down from the other choices. I have not been in the Mexican for dinner since the renovation. All just my opinion and I am sure others will have differing views. Best advice I can give is to try as many as you can, form your own opinion and adjust where you eat on your next visit.
We have been to Amores and can say each time has been great! Maybe different dishes are better than others but we usually save 1 night for Amores, the rest Romanza, She (1), Sutra
So does the hot tub/pool reopen late at night? Or do they not reopen until the following morning? May get jacuzzi upgrade if that is the case we are night owls.
