Watched a video not too long ago that was all about the technology Temptation is using and how they want people connecting at the resort.....not exactly the most exciting watch in the world, but I think this Temptation social is part of the concept they are going for

I've worked for some of the biggest tech companies, FB, Uber, Amazon. Their(TTR) site is not very functional and its slow (Too much bad javascript). They're using a bunch of huawei hardware which I find funny because:. Is China spying on you through your smartphone? and Huawei finance chief arrested in Canada I dont necessary buy the spy hype around huawei but thats kinda interesting given the latest news.

I would be interested how the social media site was built. Its hosted by a company called singlehop out of chicago. Ill have to play around with the site later when I get home. Usually these things have really interesting bugs when they're first launched.

The format for social media sites (news feed) isn't really great for sharing information or having discussions like a forum. I probably wont be interested in using it. I can share and comment on pictures here.

Have checked it out, pretty sure it wont get any traction. The concept might have worked 10 yrs ago but not now I think.

I considered this same Facebook clone script a while back when I updated CancunSwingers.com. It's only $51 to buy:
    iSocial - Social Network Platform

I didn't use it because I thought the format would result in the site becoming not much more than a photo gallery. It tends to inhibit text, which I think is crucial to the formation of friendships and social interaction. I think they'll just end up with a bunch of people showing off their wives and "look at me, how many likes can I get" pics with little to no discussion. People wont return for that, unless they just use the site for speculative creeping/self attention.

Facebook groups do well because people are already on FB and their friends are already there too. While this looks and acts like FB, it isn't and doesn't.

People use Facebook for a multitude of things not just one single, very narrow, specialized topic and I don't think they are going to sign up for this new TTR social project when better alternatives such as this forum and our Facebook group already exist.

Forums IMO are the long form of social media, just like how Podcasts are to Radio and TV shows, long form podcasts are now out growing traditional media. When you have an interesting niche (like here) the transitiveness of social networks become unintelligible and not helpful.

I think people would like a mobile app where they could get push notifications instead of emails. Could increase traffic and engagement.

Agreed. Push notifications are part of Xenforo 2.1, we're still on 1.x here. Cancuswingers is 2.x. I do intend to upgrade to 2.x at some point but some of the add-ons I use haven't yet been developed for 2.o and also I really need to get https squared away first.

As usual I'm trying to do 20 things at once, and getting nothing done!
