I have never really thought about doing this before, but considering a Brazilian before next weeks trip. I have heard it's painful both having it done and growing back. Are the few that I have talked exaggerating?

I used to get them before vacation and I hated the process but enjoyed the result. Then I found sugaring. Better results. I find it hurts a little less than waxing and it's much gentler on the skin as it only removes dead skin cells as well as the hair. It also leads to fewer in-growns than waxing. But just like with waxing, daily aftercare (gentle exfoliation and moisturization) is important to prevent in-growns. One day while getting sugured I learned that if you keep getting it done, eventually (after years, I'm sure) it will never grow back. I decided that wasn't for me and am now in process of getting a custom cross between a brazilian and extended bikini laser hair removal. It also hurts getting it done but it's tolerable and I'm loving these results the most. Some people shave daily. Now that seems like the least tolerable option to me. To each, her own, of course!!

My wife does it she was surprised at how much it didn't hurt compared to what her friends said. She has an appointment booked for just before our trip

It also depends who does the waxing/sugaring! This is not a time to go cheap, ladies. Go to a spa that specializes in them or has a good reputation for them and make sure your esthetician has experience. Makes a BIG difference, I've learned the hard way.

Good point, Wendy! It's best to get it done a few days before the trip! For me, a bit of the hair starts to grow back at around the 10 day mark so, I wouldn't get it a full week before the trip.

Ladies Ladies its not just about the female bits!

I too waxed once, and my wife has been encouraging me to do sugaring this time. I'm freaked the fuck out, because I had a very bad waxing experience when I was 19, that was a few years ago now though hehe. Still left with trauma. We did it at home, with hot wax and there was blood, oh yes blood.

I have also had my arms done with laser 7 times and its still there :(
    Time to get drastic hehe.

So I too am reading this thread, and learning.

What does a sugaring service cost, say a mans back? Is it done by body part, the cost I mean?
Im going to google a bit.

Do it, is not that painful, and both of you will love it when it is done, and you will love the sex more afterward.
P.S. chest for the guy it HURTS, but anything else it is just like a sting.

I recommend it! Even when it does grow back it’s usually much softer/thinner because you don’t have the rough cut of the hair created from shaving. Definitely do it approx 2 days before the trip (waxing is a form of exfoliation, so the skin will need a day or two to get back to normal). If you’re prone to ingrown hairs make sure you actually exfoliate the area you’re getting waxed about 24-48 hours before your waxing appointment. You can also get a post-wax lotion to help prevent ingrowns/irritation as well (there’s tons of them out there). The pain really isn’t that bad, plus it’s quick!

I’m actually getting legs and underarms waxed too, so I don’t have to deal with shaving during the trip. Sugaring for Brazilian and underarms (normal wax on the legs). Sugaring runs about $50-$60 but I got some great deals on Groupon so I’m not paying nearly that much. I recommend checking around for deals — but also check yelp reviews for the places that offer deals so you don’t end up with a crappy experience.
