Hope to get lucky like we did. On a referral, our Butler completely messed up, and didn't get us a room, and left work early. We ended up having to go to the desk, and have them get us a room. In the confusion they never signed us up for the presentation. The person we got the referral from was there that week. We told him what happened, but by then only had a day left on our trip. He got his money, and we didn't have to go. Worked out great. Does a member get in any trouble if you pay them $250, and just skip the referral? Not sure the benefits are worth it, but just wondered. We also met a couple that said we could use them for a referral, and they didn't care about the money or anything. That would work too.
Or hope you get Regina and then you won’t want the presentation to end as she flirts with you and makes you think if you sign up you get sexy time with her ha
Our upcoming trip will be our first on a referral. My wife and I discussed the Premier meeting, and what I told her is that to be fair to both the resort and to our friends who we got the referral from, we have to put forth a good faith effort. Whether or not we intend to buy in, by accepting the referral and the benefits along with it, we owe Premier the consideration they’re due in exchange. I’m in sales for a living, and all I ask is that when I’m working, people shouldn’t waste my time. The Premier staff has a job to do, and we’re obligated to let them do it without wasting their time.
Exactly! We've never done the presentation and never will since we've not taken a referral, and I'm just stubborn enough to never buy in. We likely pay a bit more and maybe don't get the coveted preferred alcohol, but our bar tenders are great, the drinks are cold, and it's the same sexy pool so all is well! Problem solved!
I'd be curious to hear what you think of their tactics/negotiations, being in sales yourself. We've done the pitch twice, and we were disappointed with the level of rudeness from the "closer" both presentations. "Wish I had the money you must have to be able to turn this down. You must drive drive Lamborghinis everyday and burn $100 bills for the hell of it!". Leaves a bad taste in your mouth and just reconfirmed our decision to not purchase.
Yeah very true. Which was why I put it above that we respect them if they respect us. As soon as they start putting statements like that out there or lying about available 3rd party prices or resort plans then that is when I get aggressive back and say ok we are done. Did the presentation 3 times. Twice it got to that point and once it didn't.
We didn't do a referral our first time. However, the great deal we got came with the 90 minute presentation which I can only assume is about the same. We were up front about not being interested in purchasing but also enjoyed the tour. I started a timer on my watch at the start and when 90 minutes hit, I basically stood up, said thank you and walked out. They were a little pushy, but nothing worse then buying a new car.
When the meeting and negotiations reach an impasse, it’s game over. Like I said...we’ll go in with good faith that they’ll be professional, it’ll be a good exchange of information, and we’ll shake hands and walk out. The meeting will be over immediately if the rep or closer becomes unprofessional or passive aggressive. I owe them my time, but only as long as they’re respectful with us. I sell to business people in the US and abroad, and I know where the line is between aggressive and unprofessional. Going into the meeting, we’re probably not inclined to buy in at this time due to the lack of vacation time available to me in the next couple years, as well as other obligations we have. There may very well be a day that we’d look to buy - a Punta Cana Temptation would factor in...we love it there in December! My first visit was in 2007 when it was Blue Bay Getaway, and Temptation is our favorite place on earth to vacation - we also absolutely love the renovation. I do hope Premier doesn’t try to get on top of us in the meeting. Stay tuned...
Thanks all for the advice. Let Regina flirt away, I’m sure Jen will flirt back with her. I would say, somehow us asking about making the presentation process go faster translated to we might be disrespectful to the workers and that is not the case. We are never rude to any of the staff at TTR. Surely most of the people who attend the presentation don’t buy. I’m just choosing to spend my money on my daughters college bills.
