First off i know who in their right mind would want to leave the resort lol

We are coming down with a couple of friends and they really want to go see some ruins probably Tulum.

There will be 4 of us total

Does any one have any experience with these trips? I see that they offer them through Cancuncare. Has any one been on these?

We don't really wanna spend a whole day going there especially by bus so looking for other options

TIA and cant wait for the sexy pool

Thing is with Tulum it is 2 hrs drive away, and it's quite small. A couple of hours and you've seen everything there is to see, twice!

That's why almost all tour providers team it up with another nearby local attraction such as Xcaret or Xel Ha. You spend a couple of hours at Tulum then the rest of the day at the other place.

If you were dead set on just doing Tulum then I'd suggest either you rent a car and drive yourself or hire a driver and van for the day, for the latter to work at a decent price though you'd be best finding another 4-6 people to split the cost.

Ive done Tulum years ago and to be honest, it wasnt worth the money to see not a lot of stuff. If you google Tulum and look at the pics youve seen all you need to. However, as Steve suggested, combining it with something like Xel-Ha would be much better IMHO and worth the drive.

If you want to see ruins, you could also go check out Chichen Itza. It's about the same drive, but there is much more to see!

I'd agree there's a lot more to see at Chichen Itza but it is quite a bit further away than Tulum, at least 3 hours and probably more on a tour bus.

Akumal is a little closer than Tulum and they have a gorgeous beach and bay for snorkeling. There are a couple places to eat / drink and a couple dive shops to rent snorkel gear. We used to go there every year but TTR put the brakes on that. It might have changed a bit in the last 3 or 4 years but it was a very beautiful place to spend time. But again, it's at least an hour away or more and it will take some time if you want to travel there and spend much time there.

When are you guys going? We'll be 4 also and might go for a day out sightseeing, snorkeling, shopping etc, so we're basically looking for people that might want to split transportation if we share common interests. We're there Nov 27 till Dec 6th.
