This will be our first winter trip. Do the pools get shut down when the sun sets or do they keep them open a little longer considering how early it gets dark in the fall/winter?
If it's not any warmer than it was the last week of Oct. they won't have to worry about shutting it down, because nobody will be in it.
People start migrating to the hot tub as soon as Bash casts a shadow on the sexy pool. We haven’t seen any ice skating yet but have seen the tonsil hockey!
Last year we went at the same time. Oct. 26-31. The water was cool, but manageable even though the sun wasn’t out very much. Also, when moving around the pool you would notice warm water coming out of the upper jets. So it seemed that it was heated, at least a little. This year, the weather was great, upper 80’s, and sunny. The water was chilly in the morning, but fine by the afternoon. The last couple of days it took a while for the sun to come out, and until it did the water was pretty darn cold, and it was the topic of many people. We never felt any warm water coming out of the jets, and most of the time they weren’t even on at all. I’m not sure if maybe they had some maintenance issue going on? Hot tub was the same way the last day, hardly any bubbles at all, and on the cool side. It still boggles my mind how the entire day time resort atmosphere is based squarely on the sexy pool, and they made it way too big, way too deep, and way too cold. They did have volleyball every day, which was fun, but they used a real volleyball. Water volleyball, especially in a pool so deep should be played with a lighter ball that floats in the air more. Very few ralleys with a real volleyball. Looking to go earlier in the year next time in hopes of warmer weather. No way I would go later then Halloween.
Agree with all of this. We were there last Halloween and only got in the pool once or twice. It was cold. End of story. We also felt the warm water coming out of some of the jets, but wasnt nearly enough to warm it up. Going back in Feb. Probably will be cold water then also. But, dammit, we will party anyway!!! hahaha
We just experienced the time change this past werk and it got darker earlier. Water was great the past 11 days. There were days it felt chilly when getting in but once in it was ok. Also temp does seem to fluctuate a bit during the day even in bright Sun. There has been much written about the AC and the recirculating/cooling system which helps keep the pool from getting too hot but also helpsmake it cool. There are also some warmer spots around the pool....and wait, I don’t mean because of pee. Pool was open until 7 every night but they let stragglers hang until 8. Many did head to Hot Tub around 5. It closed at 8 if I recall. Pool and hot tubs at SkyBar were great temp the entire time..we went up 3 times. Can only assume pool and hot tib snd ShyBar hours will remain the same.
