Kudos to, Olympics Gold Medalists, Virtue & Moir for choosing 'Long Time Running' as their music for their Olympic figure skating exhibition Gala final skate at the Olympics this coming Sunday (Feb 25)
It will be, most likely, their final appearance skating at an International event.
They have skated to the song once before and do a beautiful job.

Really cool that The Hip will be played at the Olympics and exposed to the world, via TV coverage.

We were fortunate to be able to come from the States to Canada to see the Hip's farewell tour with some of our TTR friends. Thank you for the music and memories, Gord!

Turns out, in the last few years, they weren't Canada's Secret as we all thought, afterall.
Lots of Americans were Hip fans too

We, along with ~500 other proud Canucks, flocked to Spokane, WA a few years ago to see The Hip. Within the crowd we could pick out the few Spokanians fortunate enough to score tickets by their "Lookit that, who the hell wears a hockey jersey on a date?" gaze. The friendly as usual US Border Guard manning the shack as we crossed provided us a good laugh.

    him: "Where y'all goin"?"
    me: "The Hip show...... Sir."
him: "Uh-huh, you and pretty much everyone else who's crossed in the last few hours. So I've been told they're some kinda rock 'n roll band but I never heard of 'em. What's the big fuss about 'em anyway?"
Ms Skibum: (barely stifles a snorting laugh, starts a fake coughing fit to mask it)
us two: (look at each other, silently trying to formulate a sensible answer..... read that as hoping to be non-sarcastic)
me: "Well, Sir, do you recall Bruce Springsteen being a big deal down here 20 years ago?"
him: "Hell yeah! Still is too."
me: "Right. Well, they're kinda like that to us..... but, you know, hipper (winks)."
him: (laughing, hands back passports) "You two rock on, have a safe trip."

    Hey Gord. ....
You wouldn't believe what happened today.
One year later to the day, that you left this nation grieving, Weed was legalized across the land from sea to shining sea.

Justin moved the date of legalization to mark your passing.
What a Guy, your buddy Justin is, eh!??

Late Breaking Story on the CBC ....Almost every rock rock station has been playing Hip tunes hourly to a stoned nation.

Thanks Gordie for everything....been a pleasure doin business with you.

Isn't it amazing what you can accomplish
When you don't let the nation get in the way.
