This is my secret to get these to work, go to the network settings on your phone and use a regional DNS server. I can give you some if you want.

Not to be a smart ass but the best thing to bring is a great attitude.
It is vacation and some things don’t always go as planned or meet expectations but it is vacation and make the best of it.
Just think you could be digging ditches somewhere and never have an opportunity to take any vacation nor anything like TTR!

Cellphone charger, duct tape, extra toilet paper, aspirin, bug spray etc.
My wife takes with her a hair dryer and a straightener everytime, though have never used the last one on a trip.
She should read less the blogs like this.
Anyway, taking a mug is a nice add-on on my list. Thanks.

Here is the secret to the balcony light that never goes out. Covering it with duct tape will work, but if you would rather not bring a roll of duct tape to Mexico then you can just unplug the light. The fixture is spring loaded. CAREFULLY stand on something as you would to tape over the light, but instead grab the edges of the fixture. If you give it a little tug it will pull from the ceiling. (you might get a few specs of dust as well) This won't wreck it or the ceiling in any way. There are a couple springs on the inside very much like those giant paper clip binder type things that hold it in the ceiling and they won't be harmed either. You will also find the low voltage cord powering it. The cord is almost identical to the 1/8" pin type connector that plugs into your computer from an accessory like a microphone, extra speakers, etc. Grab that connection, give it a quarter turn, and unplug it. Super easy, safe, and non-destructive as long as you don't fall off whatever you are standing on. Problem solved!

So you're telling me you don't bring duct tape with you??? How does your wife get you to calm down and stop partying?

    Maybe it's just me :(

Haha. Yep, did this the last two stays. First time I did it, I was concerned I'd knock out power to half the resort. Who knows how the hell that place is wired o_O

The lights do turn off...not sure why all this is necessary.

There talking about the one on the balcony. It is a bit bright for certain activities. If your not that mechanically inclined I recommend wide blue painters tape over duct tape. It easier to get off when its time to go/ less likely to pull the fixture out. Also one layer will still let some light through and 2-3 will block it completely. Just a tip you don't need to bring the whole roll just put a few strips on wax paper and put it in you luggage.
