The upper respiratory infection is almost a given with wife and 50/50 with me. Old rooms seem to be the most common. Can't blame it all on the resort, as airplanes are almost as sure to get some sort of crud. I do wish the resort would treat the AC units weekly with anti bacterial/anti mold process. I have done a bit of DIY with Lysol, but it doesn't do as much as it should through the filter.
My bride had a sore throat while we were there. We were there the same time as you guys. Better after 2 Days home.
We have never expirenced the respiratory issues that the other people get at TTR but I think the people that do, it all starts off with the airlines and then goes downhill from there mainly because your out of your every day normal routine. Worst we have had to deal with in the previous trips was when the Mrs gets laryngitis because she has been screaming too much, I'm not complaining about it and will not say that I had nothing to do with it but will say it wasn't all my fault either. A couple of days drinking pineapple juice and it's all better. T
Disgusting....that’s why we always bring our own Yeti or Bubbas for day drinking. I once asked for two wine glasses to take to our room for a bottle we had brought and I was disgusted when I saw how nasty they were. We drank out of papercups we snagged from the coffee shop instead. The glasses in restaurants seem better but the bars glassware is awful.
Some have also written that it is the AC. I believe I read one time thatsomeone turns off their room AC and brings a small fan because of it. Also bring your own drink containers...Bubbas, Yetis, etc. as others have posted. Issue is do you drink the shots or throw them over your shoulder ??? But Fireball kills EVERYTHING.
I don’t buy the airplane answer as I travel all the time and don’t get sick from the airplanes. Plus we visit Akumal Mexico once a year and don’t get sick. And Desire and don’t get sick. I am betting on a combo of the air conditioning / humid conditions and a weakened immune system from all the partying and lack of sleep. My 2 cents
I am prone to stomach things and I have never had a stomach issue at TTR .. I think the massive amounts of alcohol I drink kills anything its when I stop drinking that I get some kind of cold honestly we went to Vegas I come home with a cold ..we went to florida I come home with a cold can't blame the booze on florida it was a trip with kids so no drinking at all .. so sad … so I know its me but then again some weeks I go to the grocery store I come home with a cold lol
Probably a combination of things like, hot, humid, LOTS and LOTS of alcohol, depleted immune system, and I'm sure there is still plenty of mold around there. Not to mention the not so sanitary way they "clean" the glasses (we ALWAYS take mugs!!!) Thankfully in 9 trips, no respiratory illnesses.
