SPOT ON!!!! Making these 3 very simple changes would go a LONG way toward bringing back the TTR spirit. We too miss the beer at check in. That felt like being welcomed home... We miss the late night sports pool, but the new hot tub would work. Leave it open until 8 or 9, recharge the chemicals if needed, then open again an hour before Bash shuts down.. And ADD SOME HOT WATER... Most guests do not come in August... And Security, if it's blatant sex or headed that way, we get that is not for everybody, and cameras are not good... Throw the yellow card, wave a finger, or give a nod... whatever... But if it is just a harmless kiss or body shot... Let it be! No harm! Management could make the guests feel SO MUCH MORE WELCOME by taking Nikki & Ira's suggestions...
Our check in did not come with an offer of drinks. We were booked in a Garden Room. I just said "I want a double bed and I don't wanna be looking at the road" 15 mins later we were in our room It was quick, professional and we were not bothered by the "tour" folks.
Hmm, welcome drinks. One of our check ins earlier this year: We went to the Premier room to check in, there were a group of about 6 checking in in front of us. French Canadians - only mention that because I couldn't understand what they were taking about. Obviously excited to be back they had a round of welcome drinks and were boisterous, not so concerned with the formalities of check in. We were offered drinks too which we accepted, but really just wanted to hurry the check in and get down to the pool. Ten minutes later another round of drinks arrived for the group and the party continued and their check in didn't. I think we must have sat there around 20 minutes before anyone even asked us anything about checking in. Then it's, how was your flight? Can I have your passports please? It's 15 minutes drive we don't take passports but do have ID. OK let me check if we can take that. Then it's, would you like a map? Agghhhh just let me go.
...and the butlers, love 'em but I just want to get to the room! We only stay for 3 nights at a time so travel light. Bellboys normally take our luggage at the door (carry on suitcases I don't mind keeping with me). Then check in. Then have to wait to retrieve the luggage I didn't want to really drop in the first place, then wait for the butler to show us to our room which we already know the exact location and shortest way to get there, then wait for the TV and blinds demonstration, and tip. Just leave me alone and let me get to the bar already!
YAASSSS!!!!! Both of those items annoyed me during check in on both trips to the new Temptation. I want the welcome drink because if I'm stuck checking in for 30 minutes while watching someone fiddle with paperwork I better be working on catching a buzz. I had only a carry on suitcase (with 4 wheels) and the bellboy/doorman wouldn't let me take it into premier to check in. I was already 5 hours delayed and I really really wanted to start the party! My roommate was already in the room. I knew the room number and where it was located. Still took a stupid amount of time for buddy to check me in, I super politely asked for a drink and he said soon...they never came. Then back to get my suitcase and you guessed it still no drink. So simple....really easy stuff. I'm hot, tired, and thirsty. I need a drink. I'm ordering 3 beer before I leave the airport for our next trip.
Personally, there's still way more positives than negatives for me: Party from 11am through to 4am the next day? Nobody cares The rooms pre-renovation were getting bad. Mouldy fabrics, rusty fixtures and fittings, questionable air con, mirrors missing, poor lighting. All fixed Yes check-in isn't great but for me it never was - it's no different Room service? Never had that before Iced coffee I can grab in the morning without having to sit down for a full breakfast SPORTS BAR. Huge improvement on what was Nice Shoes! Space you can spend time in and and not feel like you're going to pass out from the heat and musty smell Bigger and better Sexy Pool. I love having more space, and the filtration system ensures there's no bees floating about to sting you, or that sunscreen (hopefully) scum film that always appeared on the surface around 3pm Better restaurants, less reservations. I like to eat early, like 5:30pm early, so I'm not missing out what's happening at the bar. I'm done by 7:30 so I get to save space at the bar whilst everyone else eats. Did not have any problems getting a table last trip, no matter how many people we brought with us. Pre-renovation I'd eat at the buffet most nights because I was too disorganised to reserve anything Sky Bar. Yes, I know it's members and tower rooms only or you have to pay. I paid for membership. I'm going to enjoy the hell out of that space Oh and I almost forgot - pool servers. Last trip I rarely needed to hit the pool bar, those servers were zipping past every 10 minutes refilling drinks, even during peak pool hours. I don't have many negatives. I don't think the drinks thing is as good as what others think. They run out of the good stuff frequently. I think they're only allowed to use so much a day/week and when it's gone, it's gone. They offer premium drinks, they should be keeping those premium liquors in stock and re-supplying same day if they run out! I don't want to have to go back to having to bring a bottle with me. Also shutting down the big jacuzzi pool next to Bash at 7pm WTF? Why build a pool next to the night bar if you have no intention keeping it open at night?? I miss late-night swims. Some of the best TTR stories happened 4/5am at the sports pool!
Todd and I must have "SUCKERS!" written across our foreheads, because every time we check in, we get sent to what has to be the crappiest room in the whole resort (hopefully, it's gone since the remodel.) It's a very small interior , half-underground room. It's dark, musty, and the window opens onto the walking path. There was no door on the bathroom (watching Todd take a dump? NOT sexy!) We've been seven times, and at least five of those trips, they sent us to that room. The first couple times, I looked in, looked at the bellboy, and just shook my head, and he took us back and we got a new room. The last few times, as soon as I heard the number, I refused. Anyone have suggestions to keep us from having to play this game on our next trip (booked through the cyber sale, so I'm expecting the worst).
Put on your express check in that you have been there 10 times and know you do not want room xyz. I am convinced they read those things as the last several visits they read my requests to me upon check in
Sorry for the "FUNNY" imoji! We are Canadians and it takes for ever to get to Cancun and TTR so just to give our POV: if we're leaving Can airport at 6 am, we've been up at 2 am and prolly had our first, second and third beer on ride from airport to TTR around 1-2 pm, another at the door and yet another as we get greeted by Premier. So by second round offered by Premier, we find it normal to start to get boisterous. But as a true Canadian, we are sure that you were asked to join in and stick a tongue out for more beer cause by that time I sure am more than thirsty! You better keep'em coming if you want us to feel the first day curse! Just our 2 cents! We got the drinks on arrival but we do agree with the hot tub and security issues.
