Reading all the threads and trip reports have been a great way to get us even more excited for our first trip. We would love to hear eveyones TTR highlghts and fun advice for newbies on this thread!
It sounds as if you are dong the right thing to begin with by joining this site, reading the threads, and posting. I do suggest you read the variuos threads to get a feel of the varios opinions and state of affairs. Nearly anything you can ask or need to know has most likely been addressed here. Try the search feature for topics, etc. The hilight is being there and the highlights are made each trip. Mainly the people you meet and the friendships that develop!
We have friends who recently returned from TTR and they commented about the great people they met. We have been to Cancun many times but never to this resort. Looking forward to seeing the place. We will be there in middle of July.
As everyone said above, meeting the great people who go to TTR is the highlight. However, if you're not used to the TTR mindset, it can be a little intimidating while you're planning your trip, or even when you first arrive and see the big groups of people in the sexy pool. It can feel like you just crashed a party where everyone else knows each other! So...keep these things in mind: These groups all formed because they are people who came here wanting to make friends, and you are just a friend they haven't met yet! It can be intimidating to approach a group, but at TTR it's not considered strange at all. (Suggested opening line--"Hi, we just got here...." or "What's that you're drinking?") Even the established groups you'll read about on here are very welcoming to newbies. There's no greater joy for repeaters than sharing our stories and our TTR tips with new people! Just ask anyone who has the air of a veteran any question about the resort, the restaurants, etc. and you're "in." At other resorts, it's pretty rare for guests to strike up random conversations with others; at TTR, it's weird if you don't. Just smile at the people at the bar waiting for drinks with you and you'll make new friends!
Ummm.... I can think of some Greater Joys. I remember Joy...man what a lady! Hope she comes back to TTR next year.
Thanks for the great advice. We have found boobies in the pool are a welcoming sight and encourage starting conversations. At the Vegas pools the opening line is where are you from. We look forward to trying the sexy pool and meeting new friends.
Thanks for the great advice! Can't wait to hear all the great stories and go home with some crazy ones of our own! The open and welcoming atmosphere is what encouraged us to book the trip. I'm certainly not shy and my husband is your best friend after a couple drinks . Hope to meet lots of you veterans in the sexy pool!
If TTR is as great as we expect, who says we can’t return in August. Trips to Cancun are always needed.
