Just got back from TTR and like many of you, I started feeling sick the last day on vacation. Now, heading to see the doctor because having respitory problems with a sinus cold... So next time I will be more prepare.
I actually taped off the stat so the maid could not turn it on, (paranoid or what ?? ) ''I,m no doctor'',, but I think the moist air coming off the Ac promotes a breading ground for whatever one may pick up. I saw this happen at a 5* rio resort ,, they had to shut the resort down for a few days to break the cycle,, new guest being contaminated by old guests. Got a free 2 week holiday out of it, but being there was not fun. ( rio credited room and airfare for futur trip ) JUst be pre-pared and party on
I really wonder if that's not the case at TTR, that this bug has been going around since the last time I was there and that they need to shut down to break the cycle. Seems to be the same symptoms described 90% of the time.
Don't forget a 10 to 20 % illness rate is considered average when travelling south Sick people report their illness , few people report they weren't sick. Have to keep those numbers in mind and make intelligent decisions and take appropriate precautions . there are no hard stats for TTR , just reports on here and (tr) You may have a valid point, but we will never know, unless it gets worse, which it seems every spring
I was there a couple of times with no issue, so I'm just praying it was bad luck. You get that many people around, there's bound to be colds being spread. I'm not getting sick this year!!!
We were at TTR June '15 & March '13. Sami caught the stomach bug last year and the respiratory bug this year...
Stomach and respiratory bugs seem to be a common theme on this thread. Is water and ice a issue at the resort? We are heading there for the first time. Should I bring a dose of antibiotics or is a pharmacia close by?
Wow and I thought it was me. Was there 19-26 march and ended up with pneumonia. Been on antibiotics since
Lysol , and your own cup, maybe some Cypro,, and your good to go . These things happen all the time, best to be careful and prepared , and know when there is an unusual high # of sick. Go and enjoy , and don't drink the pool water or use their cups .
We had a group of 30 we hung out with, almost everyone had a day or two with a stomach issue, most lost their voice or had it come and go, following the trip my wife is on day five of a flew and I am still struggling to get my voice back. Almost everyone we talked outside of our group also seemed to be similar with a day or two of issues with stomach bug or at best lost their voice, or had a bad cough for sure.
