looking to book a vacation sometime in the next two weeks. I had an unreal time at TTR but while it was closed Hard Rock Resort became plan B and it it was also amazing. While the atmosphere and partying at TTR was better, the rooms , restaurants , beach, pools and standard room service were way better at hard rock . Has anyone else been to hard rock? How do you think they compare. Hard rock has multiple bars and clubs inside and also an adult a only pool which is topless optional for those wondering. Can't go wrong either way , but just wondering what others think? I believe hard rock is slightly more expensive for a standard room.
J and I stayed at Hard Rock in Punta Cana a few years ago. We were very impressed with the resort. We were in an upgraded room with a hot tub which was amazing. The food was a little better, the beach was way nicer (hard to be Domincan beaches). We checked out the topless pool one afternoon which was nice but way too chill. Overall the resort was a full notch or two nicer. We would go back, especially if we went again with our more vanilla friends. However, now that we have been to TTR nothing really compares to the atmosphere. Temptation was not as luxurious but what it lacks in luxury it more than makes up for in fun! As I'm writing this I realize that I'm never going back to Hard Rock. I know I would get there and wish I were at Temptation.
I imagine hard rock to be like a lot of the other more upscale Cancun places that while they allow topless (our experience is with Live Aqua which allowed topless but no kids) when you go topless it comes with all sorts of judgement. When Jen went this way at live aqua at first it was funny. Caused all sorts of buzz. Husbands came up to us and were like good for you. We were like uhm ok. What’s the big deal? Other husbands just couldn’t control themselves and were like your wife is so hot, can’t believe she is doing that. Uhm ok, she is only topless. Then a wife came up to us all sorts of judgmental with opinions on the appropriateness of this and how she would never do that and so on. Kind of made us think why the hell did we come here. Just not what we wanted to deal with on vacation. Yes the facilities and food were way better than old TTR, slightly better than new TTR. So it comes down to what you are looking for I guess in a vacation.
It's your vacation. Do as you prefer and we hope you enjoy it to the fullest. This board is very pro-TTR though, and many of us are multi-multi- time repeaters because of the one thing we all value most, which is the sexy, party atmosphere. And because of that nearly 100% will vote for TTR. But again, if you place high value on better food choices, a nicer beach, and nicer rooms, then perhaps you would enjoy your hard earned time there better. It's just a matter of what you prefer most for your time away. I think everyone here would hope you enjoy your vacation to the fullest wherever that might be.
I know what you're saying is true, but it's just hard to believe that people would go to an adult only hotel in Cancun, and be offended by toplessness. I would less surprised if it happened in the U.S. I can see body shots being looked at with a surprising glare, but no top? Come on. This is one of the nice things about this site, you can find out about hotel's you otherwise wouldn't have that kind of info on.
We have first hand experience at Hard Rock in Punta Cana. The topless pool was a judgement free zone but unfortunately, it was also a party free zone. We spent a couple hours there but decided to head back to the main pool. I will score another one for Hard Rock in that they definitely had the music thing figured out. The music selection was spot on for the party. Also on the kid situation, despite it being a kid friendly resort I never once noticed a kid. There was a kid pool on the opposite side of the HUGE complex. I can only assume that they put families on that side as well. Ok, that's enough of my apologizing for the Hard Rock. I'm all aboard the Temptation train. Just giving @Vodkawater our perspective having recently been to both.
Agree! Love me some kiddos but everyone needs adult time and that's exactly what the TTR vacation is all about!
