It was just a couple of assholes saying mean & inappropriate comments. I believe they’ve been graciously escorted from the group. Nikki
Never really understand why some people cant just keep scrolling on FB if they dont like something. Always seems like one or more people just have to always tell someone they are wrong, or how to think or act while at TTR. People have different experiences and likes/dislikes. Sometimes the most "dedicated" TTR folks can be the worst when it comes to other peoples TTR trip reports on FB. Gets ridiculous sometimes. Assholes like the ones on the live post yesterday were just being assholes. Probably that way in real life also. Here's our motto..... If you see a post you dont like.....keep scrolling and MYOFuckinB!!! hahaha 6 DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Do you think Boy Wonder Zuckerberg has had any rest this weekend? What with laboriously deleting all those texts and emails, prepping to testify on Tuesday. Is this a scandal as FB claims or a crisis? Will he be forced to step down?
Steve partied twice as hard as anyone else this week. And did 2 Boobs Cruises. If I tried to keep up with him I'd be taking next week off from work to just lie in bed.
But Steve is a professional partier. He has perfected it, the way the rest of us have mastered our jobs He has been doin it so long, it is 2nd nature And he is from the UK., where binge drinkin, revelry, feasting and partying was invented.
Not sure I can manage an essay but I'll try and throw in some comments over the next week, now I'm caught up on things after last week. I did sleep for 18hrs out of 24 when I got back. But I think Laura Claire has to take the honour of hardest partier, and at my age I don't think I have a hope in hell of ever beating her. Boobs Cruise again tomorrow, so back at it Monday morning. Our longest stay (6 nights) for several years, 2 penthouse parties, 2 boobs cruises, lots of great friends old and new. Our stays are usually so short it's hard to form new bonds but this time we did it and it was something I realise I have very much missed.
Glad to read that you had an epic stay. Dare say one of your best ones ever? Almost sounds like you re-discovered the essence of Mecca
The first several posts in the thread are about there being too many TTR FB groups which divide the general community up. I'll talk about community creation and how it has changed over the years. Community Creation Cancuncare When CCC started in 2002, 2 years before FB and maybe 7 years before FB became even a little bit mainstream it wasn't easy to start a community such as this. In 2002 there was no youtube or websites with handy tutorials. I had to buy a book (not from Amazon but from a real Bookstore) about how to buy a domain, make a simple webpage, and get a hosting account. Then I found a free bulletin board software and blundered my way through until it worked. I'd do my 8 or 9 hrs at my day job and then I'd do another 5 or 6hrs at home in the evening to try and get the damn thing working, took me weeks. The original forum was clunky and a threaded discussion, no pics, just text. I had help from someone that knew more than me and I granted admin status to. Then in a rage quit situation the other admin deleted the whole forum. I woke up one day with no forum and had to go through the whole process again. By this time technology had evolved somewhat and I used an improved system. I took a day off work and stayed up for 24 hrs straight until I figured it out and until it actually worked to some extent instead of throwing server errors or page not founds. Not long after that my hosting company went bust and I lost the whole forum again, and had to go through the whole process a third time. Fortunately by then (2003 or so) I became fairly proficient, trusted no one but myself, found a decent hosting company who I still use after 15 years and we haven't had any slip ups since then. I went to nightschool to learn Photoshop so I could build out the website with decent photos I had taken myself in Cancun (not stolen from some other website) and to make graphics. I learned about website structure and researched what people were looking for, and tried to provide content to what people were searching for. I then had to learn search engine optimization, so that people looking for the information we offered could actually find us. That is a whole other ballpark, fortunately in those days it was much easier than it is today. I spent money on online courses, some of which were a waste of money some of which were worth ten times as much. Since those early days, we've gone through several iterations of new software, the last being a year ago to become the forum you see today. We now use what I consider to be the best software on the market, the software, skins, support, add on's etc cost me around $1000 to switch to this system. We had maybe 3 competitors try to create similar forums over the years. Each one used CCC as a harvesting ground to populate their group with members by sending out pm's (that I was oblivious to) about this or that new forum that would be so much better. Of course, I made fake accounts joined their forums and they were all slagging me off for some reason or other. None of them lasted more than a year. Some of the people came back, others didn't, a very few perpetrators got banned. TTR Community FB Page TTR Community is the largest TTR facebook group and was started by me maybe 5 or 6 years ago as FB became more and more mainstream. There were one or two small TTR FB groups popping up and I decided I had to either keep resisting and suffer an exodus, or create a bigger and better group than what was out there already, before someone else dominated. By then we already had FB pages for both Cancuncare and Boobs Cruise with several thousand followers on each, so I learned how to create a paid FB ad campaign and targeted those people who followed our pages already. They saw an ad in their news feed inviting them to the new group. I did not post anything here on the forum for obvious reasons. Some people posted in other groups "Hey Steve from CCC has a new TTR group" which helped but I refused to spam any of them myself. We got a ton of members and very quickly out populated anything that was there already. I was able to turn off the paid ads, and word of mouth and the FB invite friends feature helped us grow substantially. Since then I have always ensured the flow of people is from FB to this site and not the other way round. How New FB / Community groups are created Click the group button on your phone, pick a group name, follow the onscreen directions, upload a pic from your phone and in 5 minutes you've got a brand new group. To get new members just post a link in the larger groups, here on the forum or send private messages to anyone you spot relevant to your group. If it's a Kik or GroupMe or any other similar community type application that takes 5 clicks to create - the process is the same. Summary To create a successful community it takes a shit ton of work, learning, time and dedication. When those of us who have done that are treated as fodder for new groups that take zero effort to create we aren't very happy about it. Facebook has dumbed down the whole internet in my opinion, not just users, but community creators too. Typical FB User v Typical CCC User and their differences is a future post. Next post: I'll talk about the groups that are around currently, how these new groups can harm the source they leech from and how ultimately it could mean the end of all TTR Community groups.
