Cheers. Didn't mean to bash it. Looked at others selling, and haven't seen the financial benefit (unless that 236 is written in the contract for the 19 years). Seems like the people who have them love them. Sorry to hear that you won't be able to take vacation for a while.
sorry dude..wasn't personal to you at all. the premier cult is just kinda comically annoying sometimes to non adherents. But, my main point was I REALLY want to understand how all Premier members aren't up in arms over the fact that Premier took thousands upon thousands ????? of dollars from them up front for the right to pay MORE for a room than a random dude like me paid for my upcoming June trip? or what am a missing? Thus my comment wondering why Premier members never actually post hard numbers of what they paid to join, what they REALLY get and what rate they really pay compared to what is available to the general public. What are the benefits, if any, at Desire? But anyway, good luck with your situation. Hope you'll be able to get back on your feet and return soon. the good news is you will be able to sell it (but I would post more specific cost and benefit details)...lots of people buy em...and even after you sell your membership you will still be able to find similar rates through a travel agent or tour company etc etc when you get the financial situation turned around.
The OP was merely announcing a membership for sale. Perhaps not the conduit to do it (CCC is not kijiji or buy and sell classifieds) But it is access to a great target audience. To publically ridicule or play Premier politics with the posting is uncalled for. If interested in more info contact the OP, if not move on. The only way to truly understand is to sit down and spend some time doing the sales pitch. Attacking the information because it isn't thorough, is not a teaching moment. Shredding the minutiae nuances into contested artillary doesn't exhibit desired wont for learning 'Premeir Cult' is a comical term to use. If there is a 'Cult' it only exists on-line and not at TTR. And oddly, it is a faction of anti-premier folks that seem to have the same agenda, singing from the same hymn book, with an axe to grind. Nearly all membership/referral threads on this forum get railroaded with erroneous nonsense. Arguing/debating/retorting the merits of membership, or the benefits, is not going to make premier, or the sales pitch, or perks, or whatever offensive premier pox by-product, go away. The subject of membership, perks, rates, is bordering on the neighbourhood of Referrals and Referrals is a taboo topic on CCC as per the owner of the site. Therefore posting numbers or figures is not done. The majority of premier members or at least the hundreds that we know seem very happy with their contracts and price point of their purchase. And if they aren't, they seek and ususally receive some form of remediation. No 2 contracts are the same. Savvy members have structured or tailored their contracts with premier to suit their needs. There are umpteen posts and threads on this site with superb info weighing the pros and cons of buying a membership. And some useful tips on how to negotiate the best deal. It is time consuming to research, but so is the breaky & salespitch. Like many things in life, Premier membership isn't a fit for everyone. But neither is home ownership, or Investing, maintaining an auto or Insurance or a plethora of other life decisions. Some weeks at TTR, premier members comprise the majority of the resort. Are all those people wrong? So obviously many folks are enjoying their purchase. I remember back to days, when perhaps if was 10% of the crowd had special bracelets. And the premeir bar was a makeshift portable stand on the beach with limited upscale brands, on the days, it was actually set up. (It was never legal and had no licence so if Gov't inspectors were nearby that end of the beach- "No premier bar today, maybe manana") Since the re-opening, it seems sales have increased and more people feel it is a good thing! Personally, we have never regretted our membership. We bought years ago. We were concerned what the new TTR would be like and if we would regret still being members. It was wasted worrying. Been 4 times since opening day and membership has even more advantages now. And therein lies another point. In 2 weeks We are back for our 3rd trip of 2018....5th trip or (34 nights) since August. It will be our 29th TTR trip. (Over 220 nights lifetime) When you have earned free nights it is easy to book more trips with premier. No muss, No fuss And if it is free, it is for me.
Marshe I kinda sorts agree with your post till the last line “And if it is free, it is for me” Can you show us the free coupon you have , where did you get the idea it was free . As the saying goes “theres no such thing as a free lunch “ You paid a huge chunk of change for your membership.........soooooooooo where does free come into the equation ????
We have made a lot on Referrals and/or people purchasing their own memberships and crediting us over the years. Original Resorts won't pay that out in hard cash....but use it towards future purchases (I.e. spa servjces, exvursions, store purchases, better wine from the menu or rack rate. We use ours strictly for free nights. Back in the day.....our first contract ....we would get a free 7 night trip anytime we referred soemone and bought a membership. I remember one trip years ago...we got 2 free weeks just due to talking a few hours with 2 different couples around the old planter in the pool about membership. They each later went upstairs and bought in and mentioned me. Cha-ching....2 free weeks for us both. Our Halloween trip last October was free and our Week 8 trip last month was free. I have yet to hear of any website giving free TTR trips, with premier perks included
And BTW.....it wasn't a huge chunk to buy in. We paid cash, so no interest ever paid on principle, and when Canuck Buck closer to par then it is now. We broke even years ago. But we still have the equity for whatever Original Resorts plans are next. And I forgot to .mention earliar....membership perks are included at all O.R. properties like the Desire(s) and I believe Al Ritmo- not sure, never been there nor plan to. If you wanna discuss it, you are in Ontario, give me a call sometime
We're in Ontario also, but membership wouldn't be in our top discussion we'd like to have with you Marshe. We'd love to meet you and hear about all the good times and adventures you guys had! Just wish we can get as seasoned as you!
I'm just curious, did you buy your trips by booking the room separate from the flight? I noticed on the TTR website that the room alone for the week we are going is 200 bucks more than the entire trip cost we paid. Before you signed up for the timeshare, were you buying your trips as packages or booking flight and hotel individually. Because the latter will always cost a lot more and make the time share sales pitch seem more appealing than it actually is.
There are many who are more seasoned than us. Our 28 trips is moderate compared with many other regulars that we know
For all the skeptics out there. I too was always very skeptical of Premier, especially under some of the previous (several) managements. I'm a lot more confident in (and good friends with) the current management and we did finally buy in on the first day of re-opening, and received what I consider a great deal. We have no flight to deal with and previously always booked last minute. We would book on a Wednesday to arrive on a Friday. Often we'd find there was no availability or the prices remaining were sky high, and we rarely had a decent room. Now we have 5 free penthouse nights and 10 free Master Suite nights included in our deal. Since then I've earned another 7 free nights in the Master suite through Referrals plus $1500 credit and I have Referrals lined up for months, and adding more all the time. Considering a PH is $1700 a night and a MS is $850, plus the earned referral credit that's $25K 'value' in a little over 6 months. On top of that we have 350 nights in OV rooms, that we can use our referral $$$ credits for. I doubt we'll ever use the OV nights as the inflow of free MS nights is probably enough for us - at least until our youngest is a little older. I may see if I can trade in 2 MS nights for 1 PH night. My goal is to never have to pay to go there again, and always have a great room. We paid $20K for our deal, $10K down, $10K interest free over 24 months - $416 a month. The monthly payment we pay in Pesos at a contracted rate for the 2 years at 15 Pesos to the Dollar. The rate has actually been between 17.5 to 19.5 so that's worth another 25% off the balance at current rates, meaning we will likely pay $17.5K total. Premier can be a great deal but you have to use it and work it. Obviously, I have more opportunity than most to do that. But we all need to realise that (like the OP) we never know what life is going to throw at us and buying a membership may not always be the wisest choice if you think you might not get value from it, or are stretching your finances to pay for it.
