It was like soft elevator music in the background at high noon at the sexy pool. Made me want to slow dance! Much different than our previous trips. Still a great place and I can’t wait to go back—but it’s different.
Yes it is a new kind of different--bcuz it was always different, than any other resort--- but it isn't the same TTR....but it grows on ya. Maybe becuz it's all we got and the old TTR is just a memory now. The clientele is changing as well, which possibly is the biggest makeover. (have done 4 trips since re-opening with tons of newbies & onesies or twosies and a lot less long-time regulars on our ususal trips) We have resigned ourselves and accepted, it will only have shades of the old vibe for now on.
It looks like it will pretty much be a CCC takeover in April, judging from the number of people on the April roll call. If they don`t heat the pool up a bit, the CCC attendance might concentrate the warmer months, and you'll see more big CCC months like April traditionally has been.
Change is inevitable and can be good. I recall one long haired canadian fellow on opening day saying they may never come back and the mrs absolutely hated it. Might have had something to do with the vibe effected by sewage running thru the lobby, no hot water or electricity and rooms not being ready at check-in on opening day. But the point I think you and I are making is every visit gets better and they improve and the new TTR can be every bit as good as the old ttr, just in different ways. We stopped going to the old ttr and have our 3rd trip to the new ttr in a week. Cant swing your monthly trips but obviously we love it. Hopeful that the pain points eventually get resolved. For us, based on latest reports as we didn't experience this in August or November, are... - if people say the water is too cold then I believe it and wish they would heat it (was fine in November and refreshing in August) - hot tub needs to stay open later then 7 (in Nov it was) - I don't like rules. So security needs to chill (in Nov they were very chill). Thats all i have so not too bad.
I know what you saying about the music. On our last trip, end of Oct., they did the same thing one afternoon. It was a Boobs Cruise day, so we were expecting more of a party when they came back. Instead they were softly playing Quiet Pool music all afternoon. No dancing on bars, no upbeat music, no DJ at all. Really it was a very disappointing atmosphere. People just sitting around in small groups talking.
There are 430 rooms now! On all 4 of our trips since re-opening there have been a surprising amount of newbies who have nevr heard of CCC or are jusr recent CCC'ers. There was a time...when the big groups made up 75% of the hotel occupancy. Not likely to happen much anymore.
Here's to early retirement So when you're coming home? Hey yo, I don't know when We'll get together then
Yessir, and we "old folks", early retirees ,might have some doubloons stashed away under the sand. Sure wish they would cater to us specifically which includes lowering the music volume at the pool. Stimulating, witty, daring conversation sure beats the mindless thump-thump of some that house "music" which we can always get at any late night club around there. Oh well, my wife says these are "first world problems". Smile.
This isn't a bad thing though. Well i guess it is for those that like to know everyone and have a group. We like to explore and meet new diverse people. One of our favorite things about TTR that Desire couldn't deliver. We kind of knew everyone pretty quickly at Desire. Not possible at TTR
