Think this is what she ment when she said that! As long as I try to match a bit of what she puts on, as little as this may be, I think she'll be fine with.
Funny but the guy in that picture actually put a lot of effort and style into that outfit. (not my style, and not appropriate for dinner anywhere) But I was not saying anything to you directly. What you were saying is a very common statement that I just don't fully understand.
For anyone looking for shoes. Here is a link to a type of footwear that I think is great for Temptation. They are a cross between those beach canvas shoes and boater loafers (except these have a sneaker like sole) . There are many different options and look good with shorts or linen pants. I started wearing these last summer and basically all my friends were like "I like them, what what are those shoes?" hahaha "Dude shoes". I was like a walking advertisement and now a bunch of people in my circle have them. Luckily they come in many colors and styles, so we don't look like a bunch of matching dorks. Hey Dude Shoes
You know, the worst thing is that we saw, not that exactly but more on sloppy side and we were glad they got turned away. I don't want to judge or disrespect anyone, but how and where do you draw the line? They can't just look at you and say...ok you look good, you can come in, but you buddy on the other hand look like sh*t so you need to go change!
I really get tired of most every clothing question being turned in to a lecture on how the guy should dress better, because the wife is. What happened to "nobody knows you and nobody gives.... yada yada yada." If the wife doesn't care, and the resort allows it, that's pretty much all that needs to be said. Your pictures illustrate the point pretty well. I'm interested in reports over the next few months, as to whether shorts are no longer allowed, except for the buffet. Four trips to Cancun, and I have always just had shorts similar to the top pictures. Might need to cram some pants in I guess.
How comfortable are those shoes? Anytime I look for nice shoes they don't seem to have much arch support, and hurt the feet if you're doing a lot of walking.
Of course that is dressed up for dinner and perfectly acceptable in my opinion.... In Scotland, shorts wouldn't normally mean outfits like this! As I said, a culture thing... most guys here, never wear shorts unless on the beach...
They are very comfortable, especially after you ware them a few times. My dad has canvas shoes similar to these he wears at the beach, but they are Sanuks and have more of a flip flip sole and not comfortable IMO. These on the other hand are much more of a sneaker like sole. Disclaimer **the underside of the soles are slick the first time you put them on. I have a tile floor and I was basically ice-skating around my kitchen. I had to go outside and drag my feet on the concrete while walking to get some grip on them.**
It is more objective. Our society likes things spelled out.....pants are easier to define than stylish.
They are definitely requiring pants st some of the restaurants. This is not new to some of them. Have been and have seen people turned away at the Italian over the years. Seems they are being more strict with the policy these days and at more of the restaurants
