I've seen mention of some type of store across the street from TTR. We will be first timers (Apr 15-21.... counting down!!!!) and only bringing carry-ons. So I'm limited on liquids I can bring. Can I buy toiletry items at the store like sunscreen, hairspray, contact solution etc? And are they normal prices? I don't want to pay $50 for a bottle of sunscreen
They have all of the above but the prices are NOT normal prices. About 5 years ago we bought sunscreen there for $30. Never been there since. There is more competition in the area now so maybe the price came down but I doubt enough to make it normal prices. We have never (knock on wood) had an issue with baggage at cancun airport so always check a bag.
Try Walmart. Depending on transportation from airport driver can stop. Just let 4th m know when booking.
Prices definitely are not normal and can fluctuate from one visit to the next. One evening I ran across to get smokes and energy drinks in dress shoes, slacks and a nice button down. The following day I ran over during the day in my swim trunks and t-shirt. The price was about $10 more when I looked like a tourist. I questioned the price, and low and behold, with the push of a couple buttons, the price dropped $10.
You could always taxi/bus to Selecto Chedraui in the hotel zone, an amazing new super market with normal pricing. Excellent selection of alcohol at great prices, we did not do an all-inclusive last June and went here for all of our alcohol/snacks/toiletries/sunscreen.
I am actually struggling to pick out which one is the tourist outfit? I feel like people in Mexico totally go one way or the other themselves.
Ya that place is pretty good. But booze selection is better at La Europea, at least for brands I am interested in and vino tinto
