Floor is yours Jason @Jason and Debi NV What would you different speaking from a drummer's vantage point?
So for the Sexy Pool area I would; 1. As a DJ pay attention to the vibe of the crowd during the day, after activities, and as evening approaches. There are obvious differences in the crowd at different parts of the day and for that matter each day itself. The DJ can help create the vibe, just like at Bash, with different energies that songs have. 2. Play Rock, Pop, and old school Hip Hop/ Rap with driving beats (not made-up via dance mixes) to drive the energy and sprinkle in Country (newer with energy) and old school Rock to round out the genres folks like. These higher-energy naturally driving-beat songs can start and keep the vibe going without seeming forced. I have success with everything; Elvis-GnR-Bruno-Journey-Luke Bryan-Ed Sheeran-70s & 80s Rock-Outkast-Weezer-Lady Gaga.....and so on. Naturally driving songs that make you tap your foot, get up out of your seat, sing along, have fun. No matter the conversations had here or anywhere there are always folks who will not like the music selection, that is why some many types of music exist. Limitless opinions and musical palates, like wine-food-art, endless possibilities.
I don’t like hitting the disagree button but I disagree. I don’t like any of the stuff you list and none is played in the clubs/bars we go to in the northeast USA or Vegas or Florida etc. Just a case of different music tastes I guess. I am learning my music tastes don’t fit the general concensus on this board. Or maybe there are more silent people out there that enjoy the edm, trance, house beats but they are just silent
