Interesting story Mate...thanks My agreement rating is aimed at your last sentence....accompanied with a knowing nod.
We have been to Cancun 9 times and always used the buses because they constantly pass by and are cheap. Taxis will charge you 3-5x more and they always want to offer you hookers...lol. I’d say you are much safer on the buses. If you are unfamiliar with Cancun, you can easily tell the bus driver your destination and he will Take you to the nearest bus stop to your destination. The buses run all night long so you can go to the clubs at night and still get back to TTR late for only $1. If you have time and want a grab some good food, check out Surfin’ Burrito or Fish Fritanga.
We've never seen a vacation to TTR as a "cultural" trip... longest absence from hotel so far (apart from a Boobs Cruise) was a trip to Hooters to watch the soccer !!. TTR is unique, never enough time to catch up with friends and enjoy all the fun, if you need to escape or see something else....see Steve and take a Boobs Cruise....... (just our suggestion LOL)
We have two traditions, spend an afternoon on Isla driving a golf cart and bar hopping, lots of ExPat and very entertaining, and diner at Peters. we have not had issues with cab drivers The TTR staff has always found us a good cab. thus, tip the doormem
If you are interested in going to the clubs, there is a bus that takes a group from TTR to one of the clubs every night. Coco Bongo, IMO, is the coolest. I'd also give a vote for spending a day on Isla Mujeres. It's really awesome there!
Yes, that is the place, I do have to say, we did go there this past Halloween and they somewhat "Upgraded" the establishment. I'm sure this had to do with all the construction and upgrades to the area. The food was still good but it seems like they are now catering to the tourist and not the locals as they have a regular menu and regular prices. The meal we used to get for about $4 was now about $15. P&L
You are right Currently they are not promoting any of the clubs Evrrsince re-opening, (we have done 4 trips since August) there has been NO marketing for any of the clubs by the Ents staff.
