Problem is this isn't a BS fake news story. US State is issuing the warning and US Government employees are banned from travel. Are your reservations in PDC? Nothing seems to prohibit travel to Cancun. Though if you are military, I understand that some units have more stringent travel restrictions.
People think it,s fake news because the US TA is constantly crying wolf in Mexico , it,s no secret . Why doesn't the US travel advisers,, tell people not to go to '' any major us city with high crime'' ?? Mexico /Cancun statically is far safer then some US cities . ( not naming any Cities cause last time I did some got sensitive.defensive.) Canada has issued a warning to avoid ferries .
Joe&Heidi no our reservations are for TTR so we're GTG. My only point is the ban is not fake news and "if" we decided we wanted to take a trip down to PDC we would not be able to. As for comments about US cities being more dangerous than Cancun, don't think that should be a discussion here. I know I can't wait to get down there to get away from all of the political back and forth

I would like to point out that "fake news" has not only denotations but also connotations. Aka....hype good or bad is fake news! Why do they ((gubment and broadcast/print news) want to freakin scare people all of the time? Sensationalism.... Makes no sense. Life is short so enjoy it. Go where you want and do what you want but just keep your wits and be aware. If not we should just cower and go back living in caves and under rocks.
why couldn't you still go to PDC? you're free adults and therefore free to ignore the silly hype of media and bureaucrats. if I hear one of these stories, or the alcohol ones a few months back, and the source is the State department or the news media I am actually more inclined to believe it is complete nonsense or at least so exaggerated as to bear no resemblance to reality.
