www.aussiebums.com They make incredibly comfortable and good looking underwear, shorts, etc. The undies can be worn to the pool, but be warned, the chlorine content in the pool at TTR is HIGH (thankfully) so expect your colors to fade fast!
I couldn’t agree more with your statement! Wore square cuts for first time on our last trip, and will wear nothing but from now on! [At least in Mexico. ]
JR gets his from American Eagle! He looks for 6" board shorts, the ones that sit above the knee but don't squeeze the jewels
All you fine gentlemen about to embark on the wonderful world of tight square cut swimwear, I'm saying this once more as a Public Service Announcement from Nanners: They're amazing and look great (and I'm not going back), but take care not to have your bangers in a mash, not to over ripen your gooseberries, not to press the plums, not to ding the danglers, not to squeeze the swingers, not t... well.. you get the gist of it.
I got some 5th Industry square cuts off of Amazon for about $20. They do run a little small, but not as small as the Chinese ones. I'm a 33 waist in jeans....Large fit, but X-large is a little more comfortable. Nice thing about them is they have a pouch in front for the family jewels!
This is one I wear just got three in Geranimo this one ships from UK Geronimo Mens Swimwear and Underwear

To me it's all about the comfort, but If you pick the right ones they can look great on you also. Stephie loves them. It's true that the first time you walk out near the sexy pool in them you feel fully on display for about 30 seconds, but I suppose that is exactly what women feel when they walk about in little more than an eye patch also. So man up and get over it! And you know what, the old TTR saying "nobody knows you and nobody gives a shit" couldn't be more true. Absolutely nobody cares, and you might even get a few compliments. But the best part is the comfort that is unmatched. Can't stand board shorts anymore, and I even wear the square cuts at friends pool parties. Now I've got them doing it too! Vive la Revolution!
What I didn’t like about the board shorts I wore part of the day last trip was they stuck to my inner thighs and had me feeling even more uncomfortable.
