Sean is on Keto and I am on "Keto light" and we went to a wine festival yesterday. Sean usually powers through the tasting room like he owns the place, but he crapped out and had to stop drinking the last half hour because he got too drunk! I've been noticing that when I DO have a drink on the weekends (have cut out midweek drinking), it hits me a lot harder. We may have to cut out the Keto nonsense for the last week before we leave, to get our livers back in shape.
Having PCOS, I tend to gain weight easier and faster. I can drop all the bad fat and only eat lean protein veggies and carbs ( oven baked potato, whole wheat rice, pasta., etc. ) and still gain some pounds. It's a constant battle, so I just learn to accept it and just eat what I want in moderation. I did a low carbs diet for 2 month lost 20 pounds. 1 week later of eating healthy ( veggies and lean protein ) I gain back 12 out those pounds. I'm not a believer in those '' miracle '' diet anymore and I'm done throwing money out of the windows
Doctors will tell you simply.................... "It's all about calories in, and calories burned!" I have lost 7 lbs in ONE WEEK. from 217 to 210, by not drinking, and cutting out pizza, pasta, fried foods, potatoes etc. Just eat a portion of protein, and all the vegetables you want. I'm a bourbon drinker, and that is a lot of empty calories in one drink. So figure if I have 4 from 6-9:00, I would need to hit the treadmill for over an hour just to burn off alcohol. No fun. So try this................. Give your liver a treat! Don't drink for two weeks prior to arriving on vacation. Eat sensibly and cut out as many carbs and calories as you can. It's only two weeks! I guarantee you'll drop more than you think. The first few days won't show much, but then it starts melting fast. So men............ Try to make your belly "keg" a six pack, and ladies........ do what I say, and the "wine baby" will disappear ! Trust me.......... D did it and lost 13 lbs in 24 days!
So in my experience, different diets/workouts work for different people over the long haul. A lot of this has to do with what is actually feasible for your particular lifestyle. With that being said, if you want to jump start fat loss, mixing in a Keto diet with intermittent fasting could be your 40 day fix. Think of it as, high healthy fats, moderate protein, very minimal carbs, while fasting for 10-12 hours each day. What this basically means is, you go to bed, skip breakfast, and don’t eat again until you’ve fasted for at least 10-12 hours. Then during your “feeding” period, you eat anything you want that’s on the keto diet. Your body will go into a state of ketosis and essentially turn into a fat burning machine. The workouts will only toss gas on the fire!
