No not that kind of bumped but if you want to share a story of your favorite bumping feel free. Several threads currently have embedded convos on the risk of getting bumped from TTR to another hotel. Seems to be a common theme on the April threads for example. Convos include has it ever happened? When does it happen? Is it due to who you book with? Or due to when you arrive? Where to? And so on. It got me thinking that this is possibly one of those topics where mob mentality takes over and people unnecessarily panic and share stories of long lost friends that got bumped or they heard _____ got bumped back in 2015 or my cousins brothers work cafeteria cook got bumped because they booked thru a third party and arrived on Saturday after 8pm blah blah blah I don’t really know, hence this thread. My belief / theory is... Bumping rarely, if ever, occurs If it does occur it doesn’t happen because of who you booked thru and they just put people in rooms until they run out of rooms. Why would they hold a room for someone who may not be coming later? If it happens it happens at the busiest time of year (thinking April) late on the busiest arrival night (thinking Saturday) If it happens you don’t get thrown just anywhere. Desire is usually presented as an option. Key word is option. When they realize they have an issue they offer the more expensive Resort as a choice. So these people are not truly bumped. They want to go to Desire for the cheaper price. Or they choose to stay at TTR and they let them. So here are my questions in an attempt to validate these thoughts... Have you personally (not someone you know or a story you heard) been bumped from TTR? Bumped = told they are full and you have to go somewhere else. No choice given to stay at ttr. If so, when did you arrive... month, day of week, time Where did you get moved to? For how long? Who did you book your ttr trip thru? I am betting body shots off my wife that we have less than 5 actually bumped stories and wouldn’t be surprised if we have zero And don’t lie just for the body shots ha Real first hand experiences please. Most that get bumped to Desire , don't cum back lol . we were offered Desire once but declined , and got our room .
Bumped from TTR? Yes! But, totally voluntarily, the resort was full for the weekend (April) and we were offered a bump to the (relatively new) Desire Pearl. We accepted. And the ever persuasive GG managed to stretch the weekend to the remaining 11 days of our holiday.....(2013) Absolutely certain your booking agent has no relevance. Best upgrade, ever!
I know Glenn & Monique have been bumped in April, as have Vince & Wendy. So they will chime in here. If I get bumped on April 14th, I wouldn't be TOO upset to spend a night at Desire, as I've never stayed there and hear it is terrific. I'll still get to do Glow Night the next Saturday. Just don't send me to Original Resorts' family hotel. Those of you who post bumping stories, perhaps you could provide some tips on how to negotiate the best "bump deal".
Tell them you have no bikini tops, and only see through dresses ,, sort of limits were they can send you
I can't see bumping being a 'thing' anymore. TTR is much bigger now, more capacity. And more $$$. So the 'bump' isn't such an upgrade.
They can bump to us Desire if they like, we won't mind. Was wishing had booked a couple days this trip anyways. Last time they bumped us we went to GP (Adult) so no problem. we only slept there anyways and just cabbed back and forth at their expense for the night and next morning. Then they gave us 3 free days for our next rip.
So month? Day? Time? What u booked thru? Seems like a pretty nice deal. But we will count that as 1 since it sounds like you didn’t have a choice?
I have a slightly off topic but amusing story about being bumped at Hedo. We where there with a large group of crazy Canucks when this newlywed couple was bumped from their hotel and sent, you guessed it, to Hedo! They were barely in their 20s and freaking out lol... Oh, did I mention there was a really large group of swingers on resort that week as it was a take-over weeek, pda's everywhere!?! The group took great care of that couple, so much so, that when the reservations were figured out and a cab was sent to pick them up, they rebelled and demanded to stay at Hedo for the rest of their honeymoon! Those crazy kids had the time of their lives partying with us older folks... The free stuff they got from everyone on the resort to help them make it very romantic was something to be experienced. Bottles of champagne, chocolate covered strawberries, and on and on the free stuff came from various guests that week.
