I like the people said above shoes are important and I even have one backpack full of just shoes and with all the teams and if you bring presents for friends definitely 2 50 lb suitcases and for carry-ons so after you give away stuff you have room to buy more and bring home LOL
Never had to wait for the bags came out super quickly and as somebody said above USA Transfers is an awesome way to get to your hotel
I seriously can't do it with only carry-on. Like others have said I need one bag for shoes! We have never waited for our bags they are always there for us when we are done with customs and USA Transfers are always there with a smile when we exit the terminal.
I kind of like the challenge of going with just a carry-on--and I hate waiting even a minute longer at the airport! I've made it a week at TTR in a carry-on with theme night wear for every night, wigs, and three pairs of 6" platforms, and a travel fan, so here's how I cram stuff in: 1. I cheat. My "personal item" is a purse that's practically the size of my carry-on. That's got all the toiletries. Divvy up your full-size sunscreen into 3-4 travel bottles. Same with saline solution if you wear contacts. 2. Buy the giant zip lock bags that have a valve that lets you roll all the air out and then seal it. You can condense your clothes into less than half the size. 3. I take a pair of high heeled boots. All my bathing suits are stuffed in one, and all my theme night accessory pieces are in baggies in the other. 4. Each theme night dress should fit in a sandwich bag. If they don't, you're wearing too much. 5. Take half the "real clothes" you think you'll need. You'll wear a bathing suit all day, cover up with anything on hand to eat (I take one that's enough like a dress that I can wear it off TTR if we decide to tour somewhere), then dress for dinner. You won't need a shirt and shorts for every day of your trip. 6. Pro tip: wear your bathing suit under a sundress/cover up with a cardigan over it on the plane. Sunscreen in the van on the way to resort and hit the ground running!
I do Vegas weekends with carry-ons, but not a TTR week. Too many shoes, clothes, sunglasses, and snacks like beef jerky for those nights when the siesta turns into a missed dinner. I went to Colorscience sunscreen minerals several years ago. They hold up well in water. After a few tequilas, I forget to reapply sunscreen. This stuff has saved me. It’s expensive, but well worth it. I just use it for face and neck, as well.
if it weren't for sunscreen and all my boots and 'fuck me shoes' we could do this but alas those things are essentials. and we agree 100% with summerbun on this.... 4. Each theme night dress should fit in a sandwich bag. If they don't, you're wearing too much.
Some air lines are now weighing carry one , to force you to check your baggage,, frankly , since they started charging for checked ( used to be free here) ,, the cabins have become dangerous, with people bringing the max carry on,, overhead+ underseat+ purse , ,, checked should be free on international flights , like it was before
We've been traveling with just 2 carryons each for I'd say the last 5 years... and that's for 10-12 days. It was actually quite a relief to downgrade packing to taking only stuff we knew we would we need and wear. I'd never do checked luggage again!
I check a bag with all the stupid stuff I bring. But seriously could just make a carry-on work if I eliminated some things and was a bit more organized. But the thing to me is Elyse is 100% going to be checking a bag. There is no doubt about it. So I am already going to be in lines and have to deal with the checked bag process regardless. $50 bucks isn't that big a deal so I might as well make it easy on myself and throw everything I think I could possibly ever need in the checked bag (and not have to worry about travel size stuff), and then just make it easy to navigate the airport with just a backpack loaded with my valuables (watches, sunglasses, ipod, portable speaker)
Sounds like a great plan, but we always end up bringing way too much stuff to make that work. I’m sure we could easily leave a lot Home starting with my size 12 gym shoes that never make it out of the suitcase.
