Yes that is a good list. I bet people would be surprised how many songs they recognize from the radio or tv as each one of the ones listed above had a mainstream song or two (especially Aoki which is really the only one in that list I don’t like). And yes EDM used here is painting with a broad stroke. Even worse is when people call it techno. Within EDM we tend to like trance or deep house... just saw Above & Beyond this past weekend (try ‘we’re all we need’ mix with Zoe Johnston ... , more mellow chill and something I would never call Techno). Also like Armin van buuren. Here is an old school Martin Garrix remix that jen asks them to play every visit and they do for her...
EDM as I refer to it here is any music which generally sounds like - boots and pants and boots and pants. Basically an overbearing bass riff with electronic drum playing a 6 or 8 beat at a fast pace. Sometimes other synthetic sounds, but not always. My daughter always tells me the various classifications, but its like rock or hip hop. Unless it is your life, you realize that there are 20 categories of each, but the basics are the same.
I honestly had no idea what EDM was either. Good God, I hope that's not all we will have to listen to day and night.
This was a version of this song (that is a little more Electronic) that was sent to me on a CD by a member of the forum before one of my trips. It has become a staple in my circle of friends at home when in full party/dance mode.
I love the LACS, Bubba Sparks, Lenny Cooper and all the others but I they are not club dance songs. That is why I have a big ass speaker and will be down on the beach a night or two even if im am by myself.
EDM Electronically Dreadful Music and yes its techno The music played should reflect all the personalities and tastes of the crowd and the DJ has to read the crowd and mood to make sure he keeps the party rockin . If the crowd want ABBA and Kiss and AC/DC and the village people then so be it But please no Barry Manilow And forget country , Ive lost enough girls ,cars ,dogs ,trucks and money as it is I dont need to be reminded in every tune .
Funny how different peoples interests are based on possibly where they grew up or the environment they are in. I really have no idea who any of them are. Just like I am sure many of you are saying the same thing about the edm examples provided. Keeping an open mind. Can you provide some song links on YouTube or list some names and I will pull them up on Spotify???
LACS Country boy's paradise, Country boy fresh, you got what I need. Lenny Cooper and Colt ford mud digger. And the list goes on for that style of music. But I do agree that the resort should play what keeps the party going for the crowd. When I need a break of to hear something my style I have that option. Funny I grew up in LA and listened to mostly Punk. When I graduated I moved to the country in a small town in northern California and as I get older 43 now I really like country and I hated it as a young guy. I can listen to anything as long as I/ we are having fun doing it. Hell give me a mud puddle with the right friends and it will be a party for sure.
I had to look up an old song I loved a few years ago, was a DJ type song, remixed, etc. I wasn’t sure of the genre. They say it is: deep house or tropical house, whatever that is. And, incidentally, I just read that this video was filmed nearby TTR in Tulum.
