There's an old Vegas trick where you subtly give the front desk clerk a crisp $20 bill, making sure nobody sees you doing it. While handing the bill over in some paperwork for example, make sure the clerk sees the money and at the same time say: Any upgrades available. Usually, they will bump you up. Are you referring to this trick when you say money talks? Care to elaborate?
We always book the garden view and take cash to upgrade when we arrive. They will give you a quote then I fire back with something way lower. The last trip I upgraded to a jacuzzi room for 200=7 days
This didn't work at the old TTR so I doubt it will work at the new TTR where they seem a little less willing to negotiate. $20 will basically get you the same room class but your choice of room in that class which they will do anyway. You can always ask to see a room to see if you like it. And then go to another one. And so on until you find a fit. I find they are very willing to do this if you tip the person showing you around.
