~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I may have to take you up on that offer . . . . . my wife doesn’t give up hers !!!
Pop rocks (my wife's suggestion.....good girl!). Scented candles and other mini candles. Massage oil ......Also mini Bose speaker (or other) for in your room.
Okay, so these are not fun things, but are things that are great to have with you. - Blister stick/spray to prevent blisters from strappy heels. Not a 100% solution but helps some. - Tinted (for the girls) lip balm with sunscreen for the pool. Burts Bees makes a bunch of colors. - Powdered mineral sunscreen (Colorescience makes a great one) in addition to traditional sunscreen. It takes up much less weight and space in your bags, and you can put it in your carry-on so that if your bags get lost by the airline ((shudder)), at least you have some sunscreen until the idiots find your bags. Colorescience has a tinted one that doubles as a bronzer. Buy on Amazon or eBay. - Hair clamps to keep your hair above the water level of the pool (if you care about keeping your hair dry). - Wide-brimmed packable hat and lightweight T-shirt for the pool in case you actually do get burned and need to party undercover for a couple days. - Sunglass cleaning spray and an eyeglass cleaning cloth. - Hair serum like Frizz Ease to try to minimize the frizz from the high humidity. Glossing spray (spray shine) also helps. I do a drugstore 7-day smoothing treatment right before a trip, and that helps for at least the first few days. - lingerie soap for bikinis - Somebody already mentioned dish soap for your refillable mug but it's worth mentioning again -- don't forget this, as if you have to use shampoo or bar soap, it'll mess up your margarita later...blech. - Imodium. The affliction it treats will not go away by itself....speaking from experience here. I bought my hubby several pairs of the thin Lycra swim/workout gonchies for under his board shorts to keep his junk organized and prevent chafing. The Saxx ones are great but too expensive. You can pick up cheaper brands at Winners, TJ Max, Ross, etc. We've used them in Vegas and they dry pretty quick (though they will be much slower to dry in the Cancun humidity). And board shorts with some Lycra in them dry WAY faster than traditional non-stretchy board shorts. The stretch makes for a cuter butt, too...reason enough to buy the stretchy kind.
I forgot about the Imodium . Tums or Rolaids what ever kind of tylanol or Excedrin you take is never a bad idea if your like me and you make it to the party with really pretty shoes on ..but then kick them off some type of sock for your feet
Small thing of baby powder for any chafing.... trust me! If you're not used to humidity your skin can get mad! Recover ORS on Amazon.... packets to mix in water or anything actually, but it is pleasant with just water..... We do one in the am and one before our SNAP. Never sick never hung over.
Lots of great ideas. First time to TTR, but have been to Mexico a lot of times: Make it a point to tip and buy things only in pesos. It's more fun and you don't have to pay a 20 to 30% surcharge for the exchange rate Get your pesos from your local bank (best exchange rates) before you leave - have heard the ATMs in Mexico offer decent exchange rates, but haven't ever used them. We usually bring about $500 USD worth, and really do use pesos the whole time. Small calculator for figuring out how much something costs - like just how much is $1,375 MEX in USD? Sure, my phone is a calculator, but that stays in the room or room safe the whole trip A smallish, lightweight backpack to carry things around in. Something that dries easily is a good choice. Nothing goes in it that I would mind losing Jelly beans for the room. No reason, I just like jelly beans Small rechargeable Bluetooth speaker for music Personal Virtual Private Network (VPN) installed on laptop and phone. That way, when connected to wireless network, everyone thinks I'm in the US (It's a hack to use Pandora, Yahoo and CNN without them thinking I'm a Mexican, and therefore, don't have to worry about being denied service or getting everything in Spanish) Viber installed on phone. Cheapest and easiest way to send text and make calls to US (that I know of) Extra zip-lock baggies - 1 gallon Bubble bath - if you have a tub Small knife - comes in handy more times than I can count - a multi-purpose knife tool is good Small Spanish phrase book Hot wife Pretty much everything else mentioned in other people's list
