This will be our first time here and wondering if anyone can comment on the beach area and whether or not it’s ok or if there’s access to take a long walk on the beach front. Any beach bars to walk to? Is there much activity on the beach or is it mostly at the pool? Thanks and looking forward to meeting those going Feb 27-Mar 5.

Yes, there is access to the beach for basically as far as you care to walk. At TTR most everything is around the pool and most people only go to the beach for some peace and quiet.

We tend to spend our daytime on the beach and party at night . If your looking for pristine white sugar sand then you will be dissapointed .
There are beds and loungers on the beach which are readily available (unlike the sexy pool) .
If you want party party then the pool is where its at , if you want to unwind and relax then the beach is fine and you can walk as far as you like .
There are vendors who walk the beach selling cigars jewellery etc .

The beach does have the beautiful, white sand and it feels great under your feet, but it does not have the large, crashing waves like the Cancun beach to the East which faces out into open ocean. It's more like a lake beach. We often go for walks along it or relax on the loungers for a bit, but the real place to be is at the sexy pool. It's almost completely opposite of every other resort in that way, where prime beach spots are coveted. I'll try to post a pic in our album for you.

    ... etc includes drugs, unfortunately.

The beach is walk - able both ways, as far as you can walk. Within that distance, no beach bars or any other activities. Not good for swimming - lots of weeds. And there is a white pipe on beach bottom, coming from the boat pier: very likely a waste dump.

We were in Cancun last month (Didn’t stay at TTR) and took a trip to Isla Mujeres and docked right in front of TTR. I gotta say that the beach is “eh” and you get a lot of foot traffic from people on tours to Isla. If you are topless on the beach, expect a lot of stares from adults and children (which is a little weird).

lots of people take the ferry over to Isla and get the golf carts to drive around and see the sites/restaurants. You may want to look into that

The ferry and golf carts sounds like a good idea to look around. Assume that theres a concierge desk at TTR to get info on that? Would you consider the "sites" and restaurants to be safe?

Just buy a ferry ticket and rent the cart on your own when you get to the island. You pay around $45 for the cart and leave your drivers license to ensure cart return. I would go into town to take the ferry. Bus, cab or walk to the dock. The bus is the most fun.

Isla is very safe, I have felt very comfortable throughout the island.
