Continuation and conclusion of Thursday As I mentioned the building shade hit the pool a little earlier than expected so we did the snap thing (sex&nap) except I don’t nap. So srinking for me (sex and more drinking on the master balcony). We met up with our friends from August that gave us the referral at the lobby bar around 8ish for drinks and then dinner at the Asian restaurant. We planned a regular table as we heard it was better than hibachi. Sadly we then learned Asian is closed on Thursdays. So we had some drinks at the lobby bar and then were off to Sea Flirt which is the seafood in the spot of the old Asian. First though the lobby bar observations... my new favorite place to hang before dinner. Used to be quiet pool bar Bartenders really put care into their drinks and they never ran out of the good stuff I like... grey goose and fireball Yes the bar seats are odd and have some give and tilt to them. Takes some getting used to but eventually we managed. Was fun watching people tumble on first use Lobby has a nice contemporary loungy feel. Definitely the right place to kill time or transition from day party to night party After a drink or two at the lobby we all headed to Sea Flirt. Service impeccable as usual. Really a nice dinner for an all inclusive. No reservations necessary. Had a nice soup, nice salad and shrimp from the Premier menu but to be honest I didn’t see why something like the shrimp would be on Premier. Liked my steak from the soft opening visit better. Thinking maybe there was extra special attention to the second night of the opening meal and maybe they are more in a routine now. Again still a good meal. Lots of fun sexy people in the restaurant. Really enjoy the dinner take a break time. If you are new at this don’t be shy. Talk with those around you. We had some nice people give us ice wine. Love the openness of TTR and the people you meet. Lots of questions about dress. So I think you are not supposed to wear shorts and T-shirt’s. But there was a person in there in shorts and T-shirt. Most wear sexy club wear type stuff. Some ladies push the envelope and this is perfectly ok. Meaning see thru is fine (and appreciated). Tiny tiny tiny is fine (and appreciated). Ladies you can pretty much do what you want. Guys they r going for a sexy atmosphere. So those of you that show up in shorts and a T-shirt well good for you. But you really aren’t supporting that atmosphere and it sticks out in a negative way, in my opinion. Off to Bash. So Thursday night is throw back Thursday. We failed on this theme night. This was a short trip w basically no planning. Kind of a long weekend thing where we just wanted to escape with no stress. So we just brought sexy club wear type stuff. But wow when we saw some of the theme night outfits we regretted it. Think 60’s, 70’s and 80’s outfits. Some really cool creative disco outfits but my favorite was @Carlos&Alicia , well specifically alicia in an 80’s see through unitard type dance / workout outfit. I have a thing for sheer. There should be a national holiday for sheer day as far as I am concerned. And the see thru unitard or is it a leotard? I don’t know, it was hot. Carlos, had on a mesh shirt and expertly suggested that he and Jen exchange outfits. Being the great sport the mrs is she went from shirt and sexy shorts to panties and a see thru mesh shirt courtesy of Carlos. Definitely an outfit upgrade. Sadly no pics as it was crowded and I am always conscious of not getting others in the pics. Meant to take one on the way to the room at the end of the night but got distracted Throw back night had a fun show where they danced thru the decades w different outfits. Shows are definitely better and sexier than they used to be. But to be honest I am too busy socializing to watch much. Music for the night started with mixes from each of the decade. Was kind of fun hearing some classic 80s and 70s at Bash. But close to midnight we were feeling being up about 20 hours and the music turned to either way to slow for midnight or Latin music. Some hypothesized that they went local music because earlier they had an event by the sexy pool in the evening on the premier deck towards sea flirt. Apparently it was some sort of computer guy event. Not sure if it was hotel related or an outside group that rented the space. But it did result in a lot of single guys rolling into Bash around midnight. We did not have any direct issues but did hear about others having experiences where they were way too touchy and aggressive. Bash is big enough and crowded enough that the solution apparently was just to walk away to another area. But a long day, the rough turn in music at midnight and the influx of the Mexican IT computer support crowd had us calling it close to 1, way earlier then we normally do. Maybe we are getting old Lived to fight another day. Plus we had our Premier presentation at 10am Friday. Which will be detailed in the next installment along w pics of the sky bar.
@Jen&Kyle Kyle - in your report from your first visit, you mentioned that you were pretty sure that you used what appeared to be an under construction bathroom on the marina side of the sexy pool - I believe you said it was to the right of the buffet looking from the beach. When I was there in September, I saw no sign of such a bathroom. On your recent trip, did you see any sign of this? Or get any sense that they were adding a bathroom on that side of the pool?
Ended up being some sort of maintenance room / storage room Definitely no bathroom being added on that side. My hope was misguided Sure seems like it would be better as a restroom
Friday nov 3rd We woke pretty early. Some morning sex (told you my trip reports were detailed ) ... something w 3 little kids we can’t do at home and look forward to vacations for and off to the sexy pool around 8. Shocked to see 50% of the chairs already reserved. We were able to get the last 2 facing the buffet / tower but wanted to have 4 for our friends so eventually moved to the center area with our backs to the buffet/tower. Advantage of that spot is you can see the games, scope out the majority of the pool and we had really good waitress service there for drinks Friday. Disadvantage is you are right in front of the speaker so loud and difficult to talk when music starts up hard at 11. Background music is on earlier and shifts to dj around 10 but chill music usually from 10-11. Visited the buffet for breakfast. Really do enjoy the breakfast buffet. They have everything you can possibly want. Do a great job keeping it stocked and due to the amount of people most is very fresh, the food isn’t sitting there a while. As others have mentioned there are two sides with different items so be sure to look on both sides. Still have a grill too that makes omelets. And plenty of fresh juice including green juice, watermelon juice, cantaloupe juice, etc. Great for helping with those hangovers. We always leave a tip of $3-$5 and believe me it is appreciated by the staff. When we walk in they come running to sit us in their section. Saw a lot of people not tipping this trip. Service is good to begin with but they do amp it up even more if you tip. The way the world works I guess. 10am Premier presentation. Ok I am going to tread lightly here, share some details but also go into some opinions. Want to say everyone has different perspectives so just because it doesn’t work for someone doesn’t mean it doesn’t work for someone else and vice versa. But here are our thoughts on premier... every deal they have ever offered me, including this trip, the nightly rate is higher than what I am able to find on discount sites. The sales point that is valid is they can come pretty close and sometimes win on very high peak times. Think around New Years. The argument that when they come close being premier is worth it because of the perks doesn’t fly for us. We didnt think the items on the premier menu were all that special. We don’t want to sit in the premier section. And the liquors available to premier they kept running out of this trip. The RCi / Sfx transfer perk of transferring nights to other timeshare resorts for trips to other locations is not a perk for us. We have looked at the resorts on those lists and the places we like to stay are not on there. Do more house rentals too. The argument that I won’t be able to beat the nightly rate in 2018 is not believable to me. They have been saying that for years and every trip I have been able to. I acknowledge that we typically do not go on extreme peak dates like Halloween or nye. I of course understand I am willing to shop around and get that some are not willing to do that. Now they throw in the point that the equation has changed due to the renos and then pull up rates for 2018 that are pretty crazy. But I know from experience that those rates will come down and while yes May is crazy right now some dates in April have already come down. For example I tentatively booked a plush jacuzzi room for April 12-15 for $325 a night just last week. Not sure if that timing will work yet but that deal was too good not to lock in now. It is a refundable site too. The two main deals they offered us had weird twists which I didn’t trust. More on those twists below. One had me thinking the deal started to come very close to my rates and I admit got me thinking. But due to the trust factor, thinking there would be some weird condition I decided against. The high level summary of the deals offered... Higher end deal. Note I didn’t try to negotiate down the buy in cost as I knew I wasn’t buying in. 175 nights for a $ amount (pm if you want to know more) where we would then pay a nightly rate like an AI rate of $236 for non peak and $286 for peak. And could choose from garden view or ocean view or plush jacuzzi. Maybe this explains why the plush jacuzzi seems to fill up the fastest lately on their website??? Or get a % off the tower room. And get a % off Desire rooms. We like Desire as much as TTR for different reasons so this type of deal would be the way we go. However, I then looked up the price on my discount site for a garden view room this week and it was $260 a night. Why would I pay $236 plus the buy in rate which worked out to be $80 something a night and lock myself into the resort for 20 years? Just didn’t make sense. Then they threw in that they would buy back half my nights for $15000 in ten years. Now I am no dummy. This is what I didn’t trust. A timeshare resort would buy back my nights for an almost equal rate to what I paid? Has to be something in the small print and I am not trusting that I would ever get that $15000. They didn’t try to argue that I would get that $15000 when I laughed at them and pretty quickly moved on to deal option #2... A buy in amount for 175 nights plus an amount to have the timeshare sfx transfer option which I mentioned I would never use plus the 236 peak or 286 peak rates for only a garden view. First of all we like the tower. Second of all that worked out to a nightly rate way higher than the $260 rate we just found for November or the $325 plush jacuzzi rate we found for April. Then they threw on this twist which I admit peaked my interest and I had not heard of before. For every trip, up to 2 a year, for 10 years by ‘simply’ turning in your boarding pass at check in you will receive $1000 back for each trip as an airfare credit ‘supported by the Mexican tourism’ industry or something like that. So $20,000 back ha. Can’t get the credit until a year after your contract starts. I informed them I was only familiar with the previous third party airfare booking site deal they had 3-4 years ago and knew people were not happy with that ‘deal’ as the prices were actually higher than regular sites and limited seats available. They informed me this was a new deal, just started. Anyone on here have it please pm me to share if u have used the airfare credit successfully or not. Anyway I said I don’t trust I would get that money. If I would it makes the deal much better and beats my prices but I just don’t trust that there wouldn’t be a catch. So I declined and said I will wait the 11 months to see if others who took the deal are getting the $2000 back a year. Would take 11 months to see since apparently the deal is only a month old. Well then they offered to bring people over who got the $1000 credit this trip. Well that doesn’t make any sense since it is supposedly a new deal that you cant utilize until a year after contract. How could someone already be cashing in? So no trust ... declined. The entire process took 2.5 hours. I planned to be out of there in 90 minutes so we stayed long enough to get our friends their $250 for the referral but got back to the sexy pool but I didn’t count on one thing. Oh my, sweet Regina. Our premier sales rep. Uhm, I think I fell in love. I know this is an intentional sex appeal thing but they must of known my type. So I didn’t want to go to the sexy pool. I wanted to keep touring and keep talking to Regina lol. It didn’t help that she started sharing lifestyle stories and stories of her visits on the Boobscruise, etc All I am sure are sales tactics but wow it was working. I have a picture I promised not to share but yeah wow. And I sitting there listening to the presentation and started thinking what if I said ... throw in Regina for a night and we have a deal? Then with all the stuff in the news I thought that may be harassment but then again look where I am. Is it ok? What if she says yes? Do I get the night w Regina first or sign the deal first. Is jen in? A quick look at jen and Regina flirting and I realize oh yeah she is IN. Seriously this is what I am thinking about as they tell me about the benefits blah blah blah of being a member ha. I guess that is why TTR is a fit for us. Ok I lost focus. Now to what many I am sure are most interested in. We snuck up to the new rooftop pool and sky bar which is in construction. Was supposed to be ready for the grand reopening in October. Then by end of October. Then early November. Now they say early December. Think that may be a stretch but I know from past experience to not guess. Well the elevator won’t go to the 7th floor. Programmed not to. So we went up the stairs. Around construction material and wires. To a big board blocking the way except a very small hole. I mean maybe 2 feet by 2 feet. Oh well I have a reputation to uphold so 6 foot 3 me maneuvered myself thru the hole. You should of seen the workers look on the other side as I crawled / squeezed thru. Some cracking up. Some with a look of who the f is this and why is he here. Some nervousness from others almost like either this guy must be important if he is up here or maybe they just didn’t want me to fall off the roof and then get fired. Regardless we made it to the sky bar and roof top pool and here is what we saw... U shaped pool going around the roof. Raised jacuzzis in the pool on each end. Way too high above the pool level to be fun holes within the pool I believe like the sexy pool. Look closely at some of the pics and u will see what I mean. Chairs on the ends for lounging. Awesome looking covered bar. And best of all two stripper pools between the bar and the pool. Uhm yeah i don’t think they are changing the vibe for the worse No one seems to know if this will be for all, for premier only or for tower. But looks like an amazing setup. I don’t even think the resort has decided based on all we talked to. Like many we hope it doesn’t split the party. And hope they maybe have a show up there one night or have the party there one night instead of bash. Special events from time to time to move the party for all. Regardless glad they added this nice benefit / addition to the resort. Hopefully it is done by our next visit, maybe April.
Our premier rep told us roof top will be premier only... gotta add some more perks for the crazy high prices we're paying. I guess time will tell.
We were there at Halloween, and I don’t know if they were at capacity, but that time of year usual sells out. Neither the pool or Bash seemed overly crowded. The bars did, but that was because of not enough workers in most locations. I wonder what impact that new Sky Bar area will have on the crowd. It looks large enough to hold a lot of people. Sure hope it doesn’t end up splitting the party into two small groups.
