This was taken from Jamie (Mayor of May) via Facebook. He is at the resort now having a great time, and posted this message. I know there are many readers on here that don't use facebook, so I asked him if he also wanted me to post it here.

    [IMG] Stated on 10/16/2017:

I’ve come to the conclusion that there are some professional bitchers on here. I mean seriously. People are watching 10 minutes of video from a nine hour party and making judgements about the affair. It was not the tear down party for sure. Wasn’t meant to be. It was an opening party meant to show the hotel off to the world. 70% of the hotel was filled with members of the tourist industry. It wasn’t going to be nine hours of how raunchy can we get on the mike or how drunk can we get everybody. It was a party with a little class. Sorry if that bothered you. When the main festivities were over and the travel agents went back to their rooms to write their glowing reviews we opened TTR in our way with booze flowing and topless ladies dancing in the rain.

Those that know me know I love this hotel. They also know that I always know improvements can be made. Change is not always good and it’s not always bad. But change is constant. I’ve been here for six days now and here’s what I’ve found.

Most of what people are complaining about are minor issues that have nothing to do with their ability to enjoy what the hotel has to offer. Ceilings leaking in the lobby are a problem but did it effect your ability to get a drink? Floors are slick and they are addressing it everywhere. Handrails are going up and boarder tape on the stairs is going down.

Is the physical plant of the hotel different? Absolutely!! I think if you give it a chance it kinda grows on you. There are still problems that will effect people. This is still not an ADA law compliant hotel. But remember that is a US law not a Mexican law. If you need it then it can be a pain but they try an work it for you. But there are a lot of stairs with no ramps. But it was like that before they just missed the opportunity to address it. But as we all know. Nothing stays the same forever so it might change in the future.

And yes there have been some changes I personally don’t like but you can’t please everyone and what I don’t like can always change too.

Bottom line is the sexy pool is bigger but it’s still the sexy pool and I’ve seen it full of people from end to end. Bash is bigger but I’ve seen it packed too so it’s a good thing it is.

I looked at the pictures before I came and had the same concerns you have now. But I can and I saw. TTR is still here. The party is still here. People are going to complain if you gave them a million dollars that you should have given them two. Come make your own judgement.

I’m willing to answer any questions you might have honestly. But I won’t debate if changes should have been made or if the old version was better. Honestly that ship has sailed and if nothing but the old version would satisfy you then you have to find a new hotel.

Till then I’m going back to the sexy pool and admiring all the sexy ladies.

Additional message: I’ll admit that cost is a concern to me too. Yes you get what you pay for. As I told the GM, the Mercedes is worth every penny you pay for it. I drive a Chevy. [IMG]

Interesting post, he found a way to comeplain a bit, while at the same time complain about the complainers. Yeah, Internet.... but I get his point

We’ll be there next week, and see for ourselves, but I imagine the deciding factor will be money. Are you getting your “worth” for what you paid? I probably won’t be too upset with defiencies, as maybe that will help keep the price down. Can’t imagine people wanting and paying for a 4+/5 star resort will be happy with water buckets in the lobby.

I’m guessing it will take at least a year before it all gets sorted out.

As for trip reports positive and negative, I look at them the same way I do reviews on Amazon, if I’m buying something. Throw out the high and the low, and figure out what’s in between.

We stayed at a 5* hotel last year south of Playa - never again; boring as shit. Nothing compares to TTR. I'm paying twice what we paid last year and I'm sure it'll be worth every penny.

We also have paid more than usual, but spent more going elsewhere while TTR was closed and it wasn't anywhere near as good. Soccer and Football ticket prices go up, but you don't start supporting a different team who's tickets are cheaper? So enjoy the new facilities and have fun #LetsPlay

Good post. There seems to be much more complaining on Facebook than on this forum. We’ll be there in 3 Days to see for ourself.

I have said it for 7 years now......there is no other place on the planet like TTR.
That is why it is Mecca!

FB community has really turned me off, I prefer to get my info here. Still check FB from time to time, and check in with HNH since that is when we will be there, but seems FB allows for a lot of no one sees me "so I can say whatever I want." It seems on here, people are less judgmental, things you need to find easier and a lot less bitching. Our old TTR will never be the same building, but it can still be the same people, the same vibe...we are the rebels! We bring in the money for the hotel to be open and pay everyone's paycheck. Just my 2 cents.

my favorite complainers are people who complain about people complaining.

I wasn't there so i don't really care....but the grand opening event did look pretty boring and stuffy (certainly not sexy in any way) in the pics and i don't blame someone who paid the cost to be there and then complained that they closed the sexy pool for two days so they could put on a party that catered to non guests

Regarding Jamie's ... um... re-posted O/P (if that's actually a thing, but I don't go to the FB page. Not snob, it just doesn't work for me), I have to say that Jamie, once again, cuts to the bone with his truth.
