You remember what page you saw this? Pretty sure I am going to hit the lottery this weekend, so I might as well book it for Halloween.
Did the house pay for it in advance? Use nights from being Premier? Pay for an upgrade on site? Or get a comp upgrade? Have the friend take some pics and send to you and post!
They upgraded their referral, I am sure big $$$, the pictures they sent me are not allowed here, lol. They described it as a fancy apartment, stripper pole etc... I will ask them to post some pictures. They said 25 people could party their very comfortably.
if they start segregating the pool party and separating the people that will be the beginning of the end of what makes the TTR party unique and appealing. If they want to create a vegas hipster/pozer pool experience (re: boring ass) that is the way to go about it.
Steve, I think you are right on target witht he thought that the PH suites were not really made to be "just booked," though there may be a little of that for special occasions. When we did the member-switch to DRM from TTR when TTR shut down for the reno, one of the methods in which they "demonstrated value" in their offering was money-manipulations based on giving me something they have for very low cost (Passion Suites at DRM, Penthouse at DP, Masters with Plunge Pool at DP etc. It costs them very little to offer me the use of what is sometimes an empty room, but they can build up their offering by quoting the price-point of, say, the DP Penthouse... which is, in high season, a ~$1100-$1200 per night accommodation. So, it costs them hardly anything, other than maintenance at this point (talking about DRM & DP) to offer "Free Nights int he Pearl Penthouse, which would cost you, Mr. John, around $1200 per night, and here w are giving you 7 nights free in that Penthouse, so we are giving you $8400 in value for free! How could you not upgrade?!?!" Delivered with straight and excited face. I requested, and got, increased discounts, but then since they offered, I asked for, and got, the free nights too. If I use their funny-money math, just in the exchange of rights, I came out about $9200 ahead. In real money exchange however, I was $8000 down. It HAS been worth it though. Now when we ggo to DRM I just book the passion suite room by default, no hesitation, since it costs me about the same price as non-members pay for the basic room. Again, using their math, I'm making money back to the tune of about $3500 every week we spend at DRM, and we've spent 3 in the last 18 months. So... based ont he above, I can completely understand your thought on why there even "are" TTR Penthouses at all.
Steve, I think you nailed it. We just stayed in Bash Tower 5207. The only difference from your photo was our sitting area had the furniture reversed and we had no carpet around bed. Tile was very slippery and seemed to always stay wet (they will probably have issues with moldy carpets soon). Can also see room 5207 from your photo. Good view of ocean and most of sexy pool and some of Bash as most is under cover close up to the main building. And course a great view of the roof which we were told would soon be a green area with trees but also a full miniature golf setup. Who knows?? Lots of tile work with funky tile patterns in sections all over the place ongoing. Glass walls installed at edge. Room was pretty loud when Bash music was paying even that high up and that far back. Of course due to bad weather this was only two-three nights and we were out on two of them. We were quite surprised. The Sports Bar should have been made two-three times the size to accommodate folks when Bash gets rained out...even with all the cover. Will probably go back to Jacuzzi rooms on first floor around quiet pool in the future.
