I am not sure what our 'live from TTR' trip report has to do with the structural make up of the hotel. But if you are using today's earthquake which killed approx a 100 people to say I told you so about the structure of the hotel then .....hmmmm.....maybe your timing is off.....or you are just being a d!ck again??.....ha

Probably the latter. A couple of points of note regarding today's tragic earthquake in Mexico City.

Firstly Cancun is not prone to earthquakes, it is nowhere near any major fault lines so a tremor of that magnitude simply could not happen here. It's like comparing the risk of earthquakes in Los Angeles to the risk in New York.

Many of the buildings that collapsed in Mexico City were old, rickety, poorly built, cheap accommodation. Incomparable with TTR.

And if we're going to talks about construction standards, why in Hurricane prone states such as Florida and Texas are there so many homes made of wood?

What are those giant things (bars, counters, or whatever they are) made of? They look like giant Lego pieces. I was thinking if you tip one over and toss a few pillows on it might not be a bad lounger to watch outside.

Rather cheap plastic. So yeah you could tip them over easily. If a hurricane ever hits (knock on wood or plastic) those things would be like projectile missiles.

Thanks Steve, the comparison between NY and LA makes sense. Sky news is advising people not to travel to Mexico city (obviously) or the Caribbean due to the hurricane, usual stuff so we were just slightly concerned. Terrible events there tho. Looks like we'll see you next week![/QUOTE]
