We're looking forward to getting back to TTR for New Years (our 5? 6th? Hard to remember ). There were rumors that the new sexy pool was going to be ACTUALLY heated, did this happen? *I know it's not that important right now*, but the old sexy pool got downright cold in late December and January. There were days when it was just unusable - this coming from someone who grew up swimming in the Atlantic in New Hampshire and Maine. I have super low expectations for everything else, but was looking forward to this. Love TTR... the people, the service, the attitude, the fun, etc etc etc... But, let's be honest, they've always struggled with the big things like AC, plumbing, quality construction, and functional design (who in their right mind puts hard slippery tile in clubs and dance floors that get wet!?!? Seriously! Never mind that we all might want to have something - like a drawer - to put clothes in) And, some of the little things... from the food to the bed sheets to the furnishings and fittings - they've always been maybe decent, not great and in some cases barely good. We forgive it all because it's the only place we've found that has this vibe and these people in a place that let's it all happen. But please, please, please heat the pool this winter. With heat. That makes it warm. Actually warm. Cheers!!!!
I guess only time will tell. There was always that question pre-renovation. (with many different answers) It was cold in February all the time.
Ok so speaking from my licensed HVAC tech background . Most resorts use the swimming pools as the heat rejection source for the air conditioning. Think about your house AC . You have that unit outside that has a radiator looking thing with a fan . Thats where the heat rejection is done using air and the fan . So now instead of a fan you use a heat exchanger with pool water in it and as the AC in the rooms collects the the heat it rejects it into the pool water . So the more people using the AC the warmer the pool gets . Therefore if the ambient air temperature doesnt justify running the AC in your room the less heat is added to the pool . Now they may have a supplementary boiler to add heat to the pool as well but cant say 100% for sure . . So going in November/December bring your thermal thong
I hope it is heated too. As without it we won't be back in February. But, the pool is sooooo big now I can't imagine them hearing that amount of water. This is just a guess and nothing factual but there is a lot of water to this pool. The benefit in August was it stayed way cooler than it was back in previous Augusts when much smaller. Can't help but wonder if this will make it colder in the winter. Tbd
I can't imagine that the pool isn't heated. I know they told everyone, me included, that is was, but that probably doesn't matter. In a 30 million dollar project, heating the pool would be such a small extra. The pool seeems to be the center of the entertaiment. They surely wouldn't want that empty a third of the year. We went to the GP at the end of October one year and it wasn't heated. Hardly ever used. We went to TTR two years ago at the same time, and the water was much much warmer. People in it all the time. I hope this stays true.
It's a chlorinated pool. As stated above they said it was heated. For all you that go there during that time, I really hope it is. And I have a hard time believing that they would not address this. As brits4hot2 stated, they probably did the A/C heat exchange again, any hopefully they added in a secondary system as well. I was trying to figure out if they did anything when it was being constructed, but I couldn't get a clear view of it from any of the pictures sources; plus I don't even necessarily know what I would have been looking for. Even with the new large pool design in Aug, I found the sexy pool very warm. Once it started to fill up days after the opening, it felt to me like it always does at this time of the year...too warm.
