Prior to closing for the renovation members were entitled to room upgrades if rooms were available. While not contractually allowed (at least in my 2015 contract), this privilege was listed as a "member perk" on the hotels listing of all member perks. Many people noted that the member perks list that was put out by the hotel for the "New" Temptation did not include this privilege. Numerous people reported trying to make a reservation for an upgraded room expecting that they would simply pay the difference in room category (which I believe was 25 per night to go from a garden view to an ocean view prior to closing). Everyone who did (including me) was told that they would have to pay the referral rate (rack rate less 25%) to upgrade, which is a very steep price. In a Facebook group I am in, there was a recent thread on this topic as different people are hearing different things. I believe some members, in their "member update" meetings (with premier staff) have reported being told that free upgrades are still available. At least that is what I have read, true or not. Well today, in that Facebook group Aisha Rodrigue (who I understand is the Premier Sales Manager) posted the following : Good morning everybody!!!! i have been checking everything with the upgrade prices and it's complicated ( a mess to be exact hahaha) front desk has one info, premier another, reservations something different well you know we are big crazy family so today we all have a meeting at 4 pm to strait this out and make you all happy members/ not members/ referal/ lovers/ haters etc etc so it's rigth and faire for all of you!!! (SIC) So, hopefully later today or tomorrow we will have an answer. I will update this post with the additional information when it becomes available. As an aside - I know things are new and changing as a result of the renovation. But you would surely think that they could have gotten their act together on this issue long ago. This rather constant lack of communication/coordination is disappointing to me. But hell, we all love TTR, so we live with it. As long as the party keeps going, the rest of the stuff is only a distraction. Len
@partytime40741 - same here - unless it was a sellout week. Right now there is nothing but confusion. About an hour or so ago, Aisha posted on Facebook that she was "still working on it." Hopefully, that means they had their meeting and that the hold up is getting it down on paper. I doubt we will know anything until the morning. As I said, I'll update this thread when I see something definitive.
Aisha must have been working 18hr days since the opening, she had to reluctantly cancel yesterday's Boobs Cruise due to work. I am sure she will work things out soon, don't harass her too much please!
Len - Thanks for the upgrade information. Steve you are right Aisha works her tail off (even after just having a baby). They will get it worked out.
Thanks for the info. Looking forward to hearing the results. My wife and I are going for September 23rd - 30th and right now we're having to do 1 night in an ocean view and the rest in the Garden to make it affordable; but it's kind of annoying to have to move from one room to the other. Last time we were there they upgraded our garden room to a jacuzzi room down near the quiet pool, which was phenomenal. I would love to know if it'll be worth inquiring about a similar type of upgrade and the chance to just stay in the ocean view room if there are openings for it.
Switching rooms...Pain: Yes but hope since only once after first day/night. Suggestion: Pack you first day clothes/stuff in one bag. Don't even open the others for the rest of the week. Butler will move everything. We always have a small bag for pool anyway as we arrive at noon and sometimes cannot check in until 3. So we arrive and then head to lunch and the pool after changing in one of the more private area bathrooms.
