Totally respect your opinion as you nicely did mine. A lot of questions and thoughts in here so going to try to break it down piece by piece to be sure I answer what you have asked.

First of all I know a lot of what I shared may get lost in 26 pages of posts. I did say we had an amazing time, love the new TTR and are very happy with the direction of the resort. I also shared that we were not happy that we didn't have hot water day 1, Bash/lobby area stunk because there was no running water for toilets night 1 and others had been downgraded which stunk. I also shared the opinion that the resort should compensate people but sadly had not heard of them doing so. Our issues were fixed Day 2 as were many others but I didn't do a survey of everyone at the resort so can't possibly speak to everyones issues that may include downgrades, water, AC, etc. I only shared what I experienced and learned from others on site. I believe things tend to get hyped both ways... in both the positive and the negative. So I did my best to differentiate between what we experienced as fact and what our opinions were/are. We stopped going to TTR because we thought it was becoming a dump. We are very happy to see it is on its way to becoming a top notch entertainment destination and are able to look past the opening issues at the potential and are excitedly planning trip 2, hopefully in October or November.

Keep in mind I reported on what we experienced, not your friends. You are reacting to a video chat 'with some friends who are currently at the resort, they appeared slightly upset'. And they got downgraded and couldn't take showers. I am sure they both are valid experiences that everyone should take into account when considering where to spend their vacation money. One does not make the other one wrong, and vice versa.

Now to your direct questions which I appreciate. As you are presenting a different perspective.

Jen&Kyle, I ask you this, is it not wise to create a warm experience for a soft opening, regardless of small inconvenience such as construction and such? Shouldn't the owner test the waters or ensure they have enough rooms? We are in 2017 and these things still happen?
It is very clear they rushed the opening. We knew the risk when we booked but yeah we did expect to have the basics...running water, hot water, AC. Believe me I wasn't happy about no hot water. I wasn't happy about no running water at the community restrooms. No one wants to smell what we smelled in those restrooms when paying what we did for our vacation. Yes, the owners should of delayed the opening. Yes these things still happen. I agree we should expect more and we do.

You two are having quite the "experience" with your "upgrade" room and "personal" Buttler. I understand that people are complaining about silly things that have nothing to do with the experience (noise, entertainment blah blah blah) but when we land and we receive the same accommodation (downgrade) and only hot water, would you be willing to switch rooms?
So let me see if I understand what you are asking me. You are asking me that if I am fortunate to get upgraded. And you get downgraded. Will I switch rooms with you? Hell no. But I don't get why you seem irritated by me sharing our positive experience while also acknowledging others negative experience. Maybe I am misunderstanding your point here. But NO, you can't have my room lol

given the example where you and your loved one spent hard-earned money (I mean that in the most respectful way because some people do work very hard in order to enjoy 1 week off from 365 days) and are downgraded to a room with only hot water... what would you do in that situation? Can you provide some advice to the individuals who will arrive in these experiences? But if we are to pay top dollar for a resort that can't provide the basics of necessities (For heavens sakes, a hostel even has these things) shouldn't we be reimbursed to some degree?
I actually had this exact discussion with several people on site. I would nicely go to the front desk and ask for the front desk manager. Who happened to be Karina Salazar when we were there. I know because I made some suggestions to her at check out. I would communicate, nicely, the issues I had at the resort. And explain why I think they are unacceptable. For example, I explained that with a soft opening I would still expect running water, I would still expect hot water, I would still expect AC. And then before they say there is nothing they can do sympathize with them stating you understand they were put in charge of a hotel that wasn't ready to be open and they are just doing the best they can with the cards they have been dealt. Then you inform them how they can make it better. If onsite maybe you want to be switched to another room. If they don't have any available that night then say tomorrow you want to be switched and follow up. If you are checking out (like us) then say you want a voucher for a free night or two or whatever you expect in the future. If you don't ask you won't get. The key, in my opinion with these things, is being calm and nice and specifically stating what you expect them to do.

This post most likely won't be read or replied to (maybe even deleted) but the temptation was a good family, they kept us warm and happy and to the least bit satisfied. Is this truly how they want us to remember our stay? You honestly can't stop all workers from building unnecessary walls or status and focus on the plumbing?
With that first statement you almost imply that you either think @Steve is censoring posts which isn't accurate. Or I work for the resort or am getting some sort of compensation for this. Neither is true. I really am just sharing our experience. Re your last sentence, you are right, it really was ridiculous to watch 10 workers working on the new Temptation apple disco stage instead of fixing the water or AC issues. Priorities were definitely screwed up. Or so it seems. Had no idea how many people were working on those back end things or if it was even a matter of man power or a missing part that they were waiting for.

Thank you for your posts and photos
No problem. Hopefully we get to party together some day and enjoy the new TTR :)

We booked via cheaptickets and made the request at check out for a voucher for a return stay when the resort was completed. The basis of my request was the resort did not deliver upon the basic necessities such as water, ac, toilets. I agree that others were in a worse situation than us due to being downgraded but those who do not ask will not receive. I was told to email the front desk manager and I did so a short time ago. We will see if they respond.

Wow - @Jen&Kyle - what an incredibly great and positive response. Try as I might, if that had been my post to respond to, I doubt I would have been able to be as respectful, thoughtful and thorough!

Kudo's to you - and for my money, that should end the debate around the "should they/or shouldn't they have opened". I do hope TTR compensates you and others for the problems with the ac/water. To me, from afar, those were the only issue that went beyond what I would have expected if I had elected to go the first week.

But best of all, in spite of the issues, it appears that 98% of the people who did go had a fantastic time. Bodes extremely well for the future! I'll be checking it myself in about 20 days (9/10-/17). As we all say, its the people that make TTR what it is

Nice!!! Keep us in the loop if you can. I feel like I may be in the same situation. I'll be there in two weeks. I booked a Lush Tower Oceanfront Suite. All indications seem to point to those rooms not being finished in time. Hopefully, they'll upgrade me like they did for you guys. If they did that, I would have no need to seek a voucher. Keeping fingers and toes crossed... :)

I created a thread before departing and promised to try to answer the questions posted. I answered most I think in the previous 26 pages ha but here is the list with the direct answers...

    1. Was the extra cost of a tower room worth it? What were the perks? What do I like and not like? We were upgraded to a Master suite. So for what I paid (3 something a night) it was well worth it. I would not pay the rack rate of 700-800 a night. Master suite perk was free room service. Otherwise it is $5. The balcony was awesome as you can see in my pics here... Jen and Kyle live from TTR! I didn't come across any 'perks' of being in the Bash or Lush tower area. I did like how close it is to everything. It wasn't easy to get to Bash or the Sexy pool because there were no elevators working and the hallway was FULL of workers. But in the future I could see this being an advantage. Oh and it was loud when out on the balcony. Could easily hear Bash or the sexy pool but the doors are MUCH better sound proofed than the old TTR. Yes I could still hear when closed but nothing like around the old Patty O's.
    2. Did you hear anything about what it would cost to upgrade to a tower room on site? No. They were not upgrading people from non tower to tower since they didn't have enough rooms ready for people who had booked tower as far as I could tell.
    3. What restaurants and bars are open so far? Everything is open except Sutra Asian restaurant, Mexican restaurant and the Sky bar.
    4. Is the jacuzzi open to everyone? Yes. Only premier members? No. Tower rooms only? No. Or??? Open to everyone. And does security stop by frequently to validate the clothes stay on? Security stops by to be sure clothes are on. And nicely asks you to put them back on if not. How many people can fit in it? 40+
    5. Do the Temptation suites now have jacuzzis on the balcony? Only 2 of the 12 do. Like some pics have indicated. Instead of inside. And are they only the ground floor rooms? And are they 2 person or larger than those at the jacuzzi rooms? Looks like the same size jacuzzis that were around the quiet pool so 2 person. squeeze in 4.
    6. Are the tower rooms loud at night being that they are right over the club? You can hear bash but wasn't too loud. Better sound proofing on tower rooms than old rooms.
    7. How's the new sexy pool? Amazing How's the vibe? See this post in our live from TTR thread... Jen and Kyle live from TTR! And this one... Jen and Kyle live from TTR! How is security at the pool? Didn't even notice them. People got naked with several games. It was encouraged. Where is the bathroom? The only bathroom open was inside the buffet. Kind of stunk having to get dressed every time. But very close to done were bathrooms on each end of the quiet pool. Any changes in the ladies bikinis that are allowed? No. Seethru, micro and single string? All worn and allowed. Is the water still very hot? This week it wasn't hot at all. Wasn't cold either. Refreshing.
    8. Do the new towers effect shade at the pool? Yes. At about 4:30 the tower shaded the chairs on the buffet side of the pool and crept across the middle of the pool. The ends were fine though.
    9. How's the new Bash club? Amazing. Are pasties with a costume ok at Bash? Yes. In fact a couple of people went topless and no one did anything. I do think they were more lenient than typical due to the issues they had. I wouldn't be surprised if topless at Bash isn't allowed at some point.
    10. How's the 4.5 star food in the buffet? We never liked the old buffet. Well we did like the breakfast I guess. We liked the new buffet. We would never call a buffet 4.5 star though. Maybe 3 star which is fine for a buffet.
    11. Who are part of the entertainment team and are the games as raunchy as before? 17 members of the entertainment team. All very attractive and very interactive. A definitely plus of the new TTR. I would not call the games raunchy. They are similar but more of a sexy fun vibe than raunchy. They did say they are learning as they go. We liked the games the first few days. Hope they don't go back to raunchy.
    12. Are any of the pools open 24 hours? Quiet pool was open 24 hours. What type of security is there late night to stop skinny dipping? Security stopped skinny dipping. I am sure some people got away with it but security was around.
    13. What is replacing the cigar lounge? @Steve. you allowed to answer this yet? Still being worked on when we were there.
    14. Can I get Steve ANOTHER vodka sprite from the bar? Yes, not only can I get another vodka sprite for Steve from the bar but he repays me with fireball shots. Or will they stop him after getting too intoxicated :) They will not stop him but he will lean into you and rest his head on your chest while talking after too many of those vodka sprites and he may doze off for a minute or two while doing so mid sentence ha.
    15. Do they have any new beer options? Sorry, I decided to stick to liquor this trip and forgot to find out.
    16. Where is the sky bar? It is on the roof. Is it on the roof or somewhere else? On the roof. Who can access the roof? I heard that anyone can access the sky bar once it is ready in a few weeks. But it does sound like they were guessing. Penthouse only? Premier? Tower rooms? All? And can we access for a bar or restaurant or pool or? I received the same info from all on the sky bar, anyone. As for the rooftop pool I received conflicting info...was told anyone by some people and just premier or you can pay a fee by others. Any special events up there? Possibly. No concrete plans shared.
    17. Menus for the different restaurants. What is served where? See this page for She... Jen and Kyle live from TTR! And this page for Sea Flirt... Jen and Kyle live from TTR!
    18. Restaurant attire rules. I see on the website it says trendy casual, smart casual, casual and sensual elegance. What do each of those mean for the new TTR? We were told pants and collared shirt at She. But we saw people in nice shorts and nice shirt. At Sea Flirt someone had on sneakers, jean shorts and a t-shirt. I don't think they were enforcing anything due to the facilities issues. I expect this to change but just a guess.
    19. Is there is a lunch spot similar to Margaritas? I believe in the same spot of Margaritas will be a mexican restaurant that serves lunch. It wasn't open yet.
    20. What does gold premier member mean now? We are not premier and didn't end up doing the presentation. We showed up for it but they were so busy no one came to greet us. After 5 mins I decided their loss and went back to the Sexy pool :)
    21. How is the general vibe of the place? Awesome. Sexy sensual while also partying like rock stars. Cant wait to go back.
