A little update on our trip. We have been looking to come in on Friday the 27th instead of Saturday the 28th. Contacted United Airlines, not only did they switch us to Friday, they gave us a morning non stop flight and waived all fees. We are in their loyalty program and had booked the flights with our miles. Maybe they ain't so bad after all! P&L
Just got home, and although the initial glitches were a lil surprising (the hotel was not quite ready for guests on opening day), the overall operation is improving by the hour. Management is working hard to correct things everyday. Ents staff is essentially all new. There are 17 of them currently. They are very friendly and outgoing, but need a lil more guidance. The booze is a lot more upscale and drinks seem tastier. Food needs to improve tho. Had a few so-so meals. The overall layout is cumbersome and somewhat hazardous. But the vibe is very close to the old Mecca we all know and love! The crowd was awesome and weather almost superb, but very hot, especially without decent A/C. We had a lot of Fireball shots and the bar now has Rumchata, so the shots are even better. When we left the Delay band (the one we had on Halloween 2015) was setting up poolside, which is great news. A rockband poolside use to be an HnH thing but is now going to be a weekly event. Woohoo! The areas and facilities that are not yet open look very good from what we can see. I.e, skybar, tower rooms, restaurants, etc. The Hot tub on Bash deck is a nice added touch. Overall we feel that come Halloween, TTR will be very close to perfection. I tried to cover some of the highs and lows, but really Kyle and Jens 'Live from TTR' thread is outstanding and I defer to that for any real in-depth info.
