My wife and I are planning our first trip here and are shooting for May or June of 2018. What would you guys suggest as a good trip length. I'm all for "as many days as the in-laws will keep the kids for", but wasn't sure if there is a point where the trip starts to feel too long. My wife always tells me that longer isn't always better, thank god , but I'm thinking 8-10 days would be a good first trip. I know she wants to do some scuba diving and we don't want to feel like we're missing out on too much at the resort if we do anything away from it.
Second time going, second time 8 days. Obviously personal preference but we thought 8-9 is great and going for it again. 7 feels too short, 10 MAY feel a little dragged out.
I think 7 days is a perfect number to start with...that's what we did on our first trip and then we've also done 5 nights, 9 nights and now we are doing 11 nights in another few weeks (I might die-totally worth it!!!!!) Nikki
Due to our flight to get there being nearly 10 hours, we always stay for 14 nights. We did Desire for 7 nights one year and was just not long enough!
As grandparents ourselves, 8-10 days would definitely be on the long end of the range. How long depends on your ability to pay, your ability to get away from work, kids, etc, and how much of your vaca time you want to spend in one place. A few years ago, there was a guy that spent 90-120 days at TTR at a time, and seemed to enjoy every one.
We will be back for our third trip in a couple of weeks. We have kids, so our first two trips were 6 nights. Upcoming one is 7. The first trip it never got old. On previous trips to Mexico to regular resorts, 24 were big on getting off resort and doing excusrsions to various places. We had planned to do the same our first trip but LOL! Aside from the Boobs Cruise, we only left the resort once because the rest of the time we couldn't drag ourselves from the sexy pool. Our second trip we agreed at the end that we wished we'd gotten away a little more, if nothing else just to sober up for a day. We still even haven't made as far as Isla Mujeres, but that's on our list this trip! Have fun! You guys will have a blast.
The first trip in 2015 we stayed 10 days and the second trip in 2016 we stayed 8 days. The 10 days seemed perfect and we were looking to get back home. Only staying 8 days it seemed like we didn't get enough and maybe missed out on something. I try to book the trips around the days with the cheapest airfares so arriving on Saturday and returning home mid week seemed to work out the best for us and turns out to be 10 day stays. T
First trip January 2016 = 7 days. Heard they were closing for renovations, so booked again for June 2016 = 8 days. We are now currently at TTR for 11 days. Always factor in losing each day of travel time ! And remember, time flies when you're having fun. The 8 day trip was about the same price as the 7 day. And incidentally this 11 day trip is the same price as the others. Always check airfare and different travel websites.
