so Steve please let me know if this isn't appropriate but figured it was ok due to the method it was communicated. Friday night at the Desire Pearl music fest there were some original resort management w their wives. Apparently they like EDM We had a nice convo with them where they first shared what most of us already know because of the announcement that their will be a new TTR in Punta Cana DR in late 2019. What was also shared, which was news to me, was that next would come a third Desire resort just south of the Cancun hotel zone. Nakedness is not allowed in the zone but they were able to get permits just south. Sounded like this resort would come in 2020. Then to follow would be a 4th Desire in Punta Cana DR. I challenged saying how can you possibly increase your supply so much and still be successful. They answered with their business model is sound and very profitable for them. I hesitated on posting as they presented this in confidence and I didn't want to get steve in trouble. But then today at the pool I ran into several people that were told the same news at the premier desk either Saturday or Sunday. So if they are sharing that openly I figured it was ok to share on here. Hopefully a lot of fun adult options coming down the road. As a consumer I am always happy with more supply and options to consider.
When we checked in to Desire Riviera Maya in late May, the Premier office was quite open about the new TTR in Punta Cana, as well as the 2 Desire properties to come in the Cancun hotel zone and Punta Cana. I don't think it's a secret at this point ! Very excited !
Kyle - I wouldn't trust the source on that one - some basic facts, public nudity is not really legal anywhere in Mexico and so you can't get an official "permit" that allows it at any resort Anyone in upper management at Original Resorts would already know that
Possibly I phrased that wrong. Didnt think I said the permit was related to nudity. Just said they had permits to build in an area that is just south of the hotel zone. They did say the hotel zone has different rules than outside of it related to nudity. Is this not accurate? Is that your point? Ran into stacia & John today at Pearl and they had received the same message re another Desire just south of the zone from premier. I take everything as a grain of salt of course. Don't get why they would be making this up though. Oh well. Regardless not too important when TTR opens in 26 hours. After 3 straight nights of being up past 6am I need to worry more about being coherent on day 1
Maybe they "paid" for that special permit...hint hint paid off the authorities to not hassle them or to look the other way. The cost of doing business.
The rules re: public nudity are the same everywhere in Mexico(officially a no no). How they are interpreted and policed will vary depending on how each local Municipality chooses to handle it - ie in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo - the Benito Juárez Municipality(Cancun city, HZ, etc) probably handles thing differently than other nearby local municipalities such as Isla Mujeres, Puerto Morelos, Solidaridad, Cozumel, Tulum, etc
We loved Punta Cana when we went last year so we are definitely excited that they'll be opening up a Temptation out there. Personally we think it'll be great to have a second option.
By the way the gm here at TTR (steve will correct me if I don't have his title right) announced at the opening night party last night everything stated above. So no longer a secret if it even ever was a secret I guess ha
Steve was doing a Facebook live video when he announced it! It definitely isn't a secret anymore lol Nikki
